Oil level good? Did you use the choke? My old 2000 always started right up after storage. Did you use Stabil in the fuel? Gas goes bad in like notime.

Yup, oil level a tad low, but still in the window. It's up on the center stand, so maybe the oil level is a little wonky with it. I tried with choke, without choke..
I've been running stabil in the gas since Nov, so it's well in there with a full tank of gas. It chugs like it's about to catch, but doesn't quite do it. I stopped with the extra fuel since I'm sure I'm just fouling the plugs (a la backfire). The battery I keep on killing it trying to start, so I have to bring it back in and put it on the charger.. 2 days in a row now!
I think I'm just going to have to wait until it gets to upper 30's maybe low 40's before it's going to catch. I was riding it last season really late, and it didn't have this much trouble, except one day when it was right at 32F it took a longer time to start.

try leaving the battery charger hooked up while turning it over, this should keep the battery charged while its cranking over, thus giving it enough power to catch

Re: March 28th Open season ride.
Wish I could... not close enough to an outlet...
I tried with the jumper cables and my car near it, but it didn't help out much (I think the battery already was really dead or my cables were junk since they were rock solid cold).

Re: March 28th Open season ride.
i wouldnt suggest jumping it from your car, your car battery is more powerful, and extension cords generally work for making cords longer lol
-
Re: March 28th Open season ride.
Hehe I have visions of an extension cord.... but it's not really practical.. I live on the 3rd floor of a condo.. I'd have better chances pushing my bike up to someone else's place and asking kindly for use of their socket... WITH an extension cord or two :) Haha!

Re: March 28th Open season ride.

Well you can jump it from your car as long is the car is OFF. Ive done it before, and just immediately take it off after the bike starts. So that not too much power is surging through the lines.

ya that would probably be a better plan lol but you could throw a long extention cord out of your window lol
