    Newbie-Friendly Ride Sun. July 3

Also a Family-Friendly, or 2-up-friendly ride, if people wish to bring children, spouses, girlfriends, boyfriends, nieces, nephews, dogs (with doggles and helmets), etc. Only one passenger per bike, though, don't want to get too third-world country on it.

That being said, there are some new riders on the forum, and since I am not a fast-pace kinda street rider, I like to occasionally lead a ride for newbies, since I was led around by some guys on here as a newbie and learned a TON from them, and like to return the favor. What you need to know -

Day: Sunday July 3. I know, middle of a holiday weekend. I work retail and have it off.

    Time: Stands up 9:00 AM.

Place: The Irving at Bow Junction in Concord, NH. That's right off the interstate, either exit 12S off 93 or follow 89 to the end and bang a left. There is a Dunkin Donuts next to it if you are desperate for coffee, but I don't like leaving late, so plan accordingly.

Route/Duration: The plan is to head north for a while, probably up rte.127 to 103 to Bradford, then head back south on 114 to Hillsboro, take 149 over to 77 and head South to the Merrimack/Hollis area. If at any point you want to break off (i.e. we end up next to your house and you're tired or have plans), let me know ahead of time, so I am not busy waiting for you at the next stop. When we go south enough, we'll head back north up rte 31 back to the Hillsboro area. I have ridden this route a few times and it takes a few hours, but is definitely not all day. We will likely be done around lunchtime, depending on stops, which may or may not include ice cream.

Pace: Noob-friendly for the ticket-averse. Speed limit +5. I'm not out to beat records, I like the scenery, and many of the roads we will be on frequently have obstacles like dirt, deer, cars, dump trucks riding on rims, and the like.

**I will be setting a 10 bike limit (that means me, my sweeper, and 8 other bikes) so that we don't get too spread out or separated. Holiday traffic is no fun for anyone, especially someone who might be a little lost.**

    My personal Rules:
    -No stunting
-Ride your own ride (not too hard at this pace, but it must be said).
-Yes, you need gear to ride with me. That includes helmet, long pants, closed toe shoes, and a protective jacket (preferably in the form of an armored jacket, though any abrasion-resistant material will pass muster). If you want to wear full leathers, go for it (heck I might, just to get the dust off them), but I just don't want to see skin. A lot of damage can be done at 50mph.
-All bikes are welcome. If your scooter can keep up, that's fine by me.
-If someone with more experience (or heck, if anyone) offers a critique at stops, please listen to them. This a learning experience ride for everyone.

Hope some of you can make it out, I know it is not what most of you are looking for in a group ride, but for those who have never been on one, or who are new to bikes, this is a great way to get a feel for riding in numbers while not pushing it, and getting to know other noobs who may want to meet up for rides throughout the summer.

This would have been perfect for my husband (Drewski on NESR). Shame the date does not work for him/us. I hope you or someone else will do another ride like this, this year.

Would like to tack myself on here. However, in the interest of full disclosure: I literally took delivery of my new (used) machine yesterday. I will likely have no more than 300-400 miles on it by Sunday. I will probably still have the paper plate and possibly no sticker yet. I am not new to riding; this is my 3rd machine across 17 years.

If anyone feels a guy on a new machine or a paper plate is not something you want in the mix. Maybe the wrong kind of attention?! Just let me know and I'll sit this one out.

    Thanks.

I'm not on this ride nhbubba but I can't see why a new bike with a paper plate would be an issue, I'd ride with you as long as you can ride and know how to ride in a group.

Thanks. Just trying for the full disclosure, being new and all.

The 'strom is pretty easy to handle. Very light and balanced in traffic. I have about 60 miles or so and am already pretty confident I can handle a group ride limited to limit + 5 no problem. Feels made for beat up New England roads.

Nhbubba - Sounds to me like you are the person this ride was designed for. See you there.

Talus - Start early and meet us. We are leaving from the Londonderry NH area about 8. We can meet at the Burger King at exit 4 off 93 if you want to.
