Had a fantastic 60+ mile day in the dirt of Pachaug State Forest on Sunday with a whole bunch of chuckle heads. Unfortunately I had starter issues (weeeeeak battery) so I skipped Mount Misery and rode over to the NETRA lot to charge the battery w a little road ride. Met up there with the guys that had continued on without me and we rode the rest of the loop together.
Had an AWESOME time! Definitely going back there again (with a fresher battery)![]()

Oh... Dude... Seriously. Not that I've ridden a lot of trails in New England, but Pachaug is one of the most fun trail systems I've ridden around here so far.
Only thing I didn't love were all the brief stretches of street riding between dirt sections. They provided a nice break but I'd rather just stay in the woods all day and stop when I want to and not be interrupted when I'm in a good flow.

Yesterday I rode the new Guzzi 160 miles, as far west as Hardwick MA. Up to 417 miles so far, one more ride and I'll do the first oil change, maybe tomorrow. Then valve check at 900 miles, then good to go.
And don't believe everything you think.
Anyone have Patriots day off and want to ride Pachaug? Either dirtbikes or adv bikes?
Weather looks awesome and locals have to work that day so the trails will be less congested.
Kenn, that blue is superb [thumbsup]

Managed a nice 50 mile loop yesterday for the shakedown run...

I took my scooter to the post office today, my first "urban" ride of the year, made me nervous, I got this trembling thing going on and my throttle side thumb in a brace, I'm ok on the open road, but at slow speeds, the CVT is jerkier than I remember it.
Should be ok for my trip coming up, I'll hit Friday afternoon traffic in Middlebury VT, and Saranac Lake, NY, I will bypass Lake Placid on Old Military Rd

A proof ride just to validate the work done on the ZZR, Rindge to Winchendon, to Fitzwilliam, back to Rindge on 119 then to Jaffrey airport, to Cathedral of the pines then home. Bike seems happy, so should be good to go.
A little two track after work on the 890. It’s amazing how nice this bike handles off road
Getting more miles on the new Guzzi, 70 on Tuesday and 150 today. What a great bike. After Tuesday's ride I ended up changing the gearbox and final drive oil -- during the ride I was getting some gear lube out of the gearbox breather, so I drained and re-filled. The gearbox calls for 500cc, I measured 670cc that came out -- free oil from Italy! No extra charge. Wasn't due til 12K miles, but I was going to change it anyway at the 900 mile check when I'll check the valves.

Took the long way home on the FJ. I forgot how many nice little roads there are through Lincoln and Weston.
Went out again today,, Rindge to Dracut, the gun range in Hudson, up Rt.3 to 101W through Milford to Peterborough, Jaffrey and back to Rindge. Should have worn lighter gear, pretty damn hot.
Going to see if I can get lost in VT tomorrow. Have a nice long loop planned for the day. Idea is to zig-zag my way over from NH, stop for lunch in Middlebury, then south for a ways.
Will report the results...
I'm headed from home (Farmington, NH) to Paul Smith's, NY, going right thru Middlebury, but thinking of lunch at the Creek House Diner in Bethel, or later at thr Bridge Restaurant in Bridgeport, wanna get thru Middlebury traffic as quickly as possible

Yep, I'm often out around there. NER has some routes posted, but often they cross too many busy roads, so I like to find my own way.
I was out again on the Guzzi today, back at noon, temp up to 86, which is OK when moving, but not OK when waiting for a long light, with almost zero shade this time of year. Then did the first oi & filter change. 720 miles on the bike, no Ibuprofen needed.
Back to seasonal temps tomorrow![]()
