    Riding to Panama

My friend recommended this forum and I am glad he did. I love touring on my Triumph Bonneville and riding in New England on my Ducati Monster. Last summer I rode my Bonnie alone to Worcester, MA from Los Angeles California.
    Check out my site, http://missrider.com

This summer I will be riding from Worcester, MA to Panama. I depart from Worcester, Massachussetts on June 23, 2012 and return the second week in August. When done with this ride I think I will have added another 15k miles to my bike.

On June 23, I will ride to Buffalo New York alone and would love some company, thus, the post in this forum. I will rest there for a day then off to Chicago with a quick stop in Toronto Canada to meet some friends for lunch. Interested in joining me to Buffalo? Or to Chicago? Or to Panama?

    Re: Riding to Panama

Well, I'll have to say that's about the best first post to a forum I've seen in a long time. I think I would be interested in the ride to Buffalo, and perhaps on to Chicago. Panama, unfortunately, would be very unlikely to be possible for me this year. I did ride my Monster from San Diego to NH, via New Orleans, in October.

Wow, that's insane, I just came back from Panama a couple weeks back, gorgeous landscape but watch out for the drivers, they're all insane and don't seem to adhere to any sort of traffic laws. Also it seems the streets are flooded with military personnel some carrying semi/automatic machine guns everywhere (seriously, saw more than a few times a bike two up with the passenger carrying a machine gun on his lap, scared the hell outta me)

But nevertheless, that's quite an intense ride, good luck!

Very nice riding a Monster long distance. I rode my Monster a few years ago from Worcester Mass to Washington DC and back to see the Rolling Thunder. My Duke performed beautiful. I think I will take him for a long ride like that again in the future.

Thank you for recommending the site, I love it so far. The comments are very positive.

I have plans to take my Duke to the track. Maybe not this summer because of the ride to Panama but if I don't do another solo coast to coast ride summer of 2013, I will be on the track. Yesterday I learned how I could get a riding suit for half the cost. I cannot afford a $1000 for a riding suit.

I heard bad things like that too and it creates anxiety in me but I am still doing it.

Thanks for the feedback, any more send them my way.

Yes, send me a private message and let's talk about riding with me to Buffalo and possibly Chicago. Only thing, you will have to ride back alone because I will continue south from Chicago. Riding alone is very nice, I love it. Thank you for your response, hope you can join me.

You can get NEW one piece leathers for $400 without shopping for closeouts or blowout sales. A lil shopping can cut that down further. Newenough is a good place to start looking.

Very cool, I hope to follow in your footsteps at some point after the last bird had left the nest.
Do you have a set list that you follow while you are packing?

What do you mean by "a set list that you follow while you are packing?" Sorry for the late response, Missrider gets very busy.

    Re: Riding to Panama

I am going on a trip to Newfoundland this summer. Our rough estimate is 3k-4k miles.
I have been creating a list of things that I think I will need and was wondering what you bring on your long trips.

Hey Ray, so nice you found me in here. Hey, I am looking for a mechanic to fix my Monster and add additional lights to my Triumph Bonnie for the trip to Panama. You have a few mechanics right?

Let me write a blog entry on my site soon that will contain all that information for all other long distance riders. I have a very nice list of things that came in handy for my friends when their bikes broke down. Will post a note here when I finish the blog entry.
