Just thinking out loud more than anything here...
I managed to find some fun roads in the Meriden, CT area recently and have only met a couple of people from NESR so far. Anyone interested in heading out for a quick Saturday AM ride, August 2nd? Of Course, no ride in the Meriden area is complete without a trip up to Castle Craig in Hubbard Park.
FYI - No sportbike here, only one of those strange looking Stroms but I manage to somehow keep up most of the time.
I might be interested (too early in the week to know for sure). I'm out in Colchester, but need to get some miles on the 675, so a ride out that way is a great excuse!
I'll keep an eye on this thread towards the end of the week

Wish I had seen this earlier, a bunch of go out every Tuesday, either start in Branford and end in Durham, or ride the valley area starting in Derby. Nothing too far from you.

I'm down to go for a ride...
But you really need to broaden your horizons. I grew up in Meriden. There is NO good riding around the Meriden area. We'll make a ride happen and show you some much nicer roads...

A bunch of us are riding through the valley starting from Derby and ending in Litchfield. PM me if you are interested. Goes for anyone else as well.
My horizons are plenty broad, thanks.
The roads I found are in Southington and Berlin, not Meriden. I mentioned them because they're close by, fun and have some nice scenery. I could easily put together a nice loop that would start out from Meriden and head North and East over towards Harwinton and back.
In any case, I'm always up for checking out other "much nicer roads" so let's get something planned and make it happen.![]()

Andy,
It looks like I managed to get another coupla of "Strommers" interested in riding on Saturday - one's coming from MA, the other from NY. I'm going to stick to my original plan and start riding from Meriden at 9am.
I just finished laying out a tentative 125 mile (about 4 1/2 hours) route in Streets & Trips. The basic route runs Meriden - Berlin - Terryville - Harwinton - Thomaston - Morris - Washington - Watertown - Wolcott - Propect - Cheshire - Meriden. Highlights of the route include a quick trip up to Castle Craig (either at the start or the end), a short stop at the Thomaston Dam and lunch at Ted's Famous steamed cheeseburgers in Meriden to finish up the ride (for me anyway).
Lemme know if you're going to make it. We will be leaving from the McDonalds at 412 W Main St in Meriden at 9am. I'll be there about 8:30 for my McSkillet Burrito.
EDIT - Saturday's weather looks decent for the first part of the day. I'm a fair weather rider so if there a threat of heavy or steady rain, I'd much rather sleep in.

It's growing. It's only two months new if that.

To anyone that was considering joining up tomorrow...It's off and I'm sleeping in. There's just no point in heading out in questionable weather. I could use some extra zzz's anyway. Maybe next Saturday instead.
born has more local ct rides w/ a larger centralized audience just fyi.
