How are the roads...Goffstown to Peterborough, NH?

I was thinking of a quick day trip probably after July 4th from Goffstown to Peterborough. There's a cool pub in Peterborough called Harlows, and since that's my wife's maiden name, she'd be interested enough in the trip to tag along.

I took a quick jaunt out on 13S yesterday to check road conditions. The road is fast and fun but not in the greatest shape. I stayed on 13S into Mont Vernon, but I think I'd take 136 into Peterborough if I'm not mistaken.

Anyone do this trip recently? I saw a lot of bikes on 13 yesterday including a pair of sportbikes coming back towards Goffstown. Is this a good ride?

try 13 to 77 to 149 into Hillsborough, then shoot down 202 into Peterborough

136 isn't bad either, but its rather tame in comparison.

Depending on speed, that will be a quick trip. I could probably get it done in in an hour or so. Try some other roads in the area as well.

most of the roads in the area are still a bit choppy because of frost heaves, 136, 13, 77, and 149 included.

How are the roads...Goffstown to Peterborough, NH?

I have been taking route 13 to the track for years now, funny part is my parents ended up moving to Dunbarton about 12 years ago or so and I had been passing their future house right on route 13.

13 is a great road but the pavement has deteriated the last few years in some of the nice twisties. 13 and 77 are both roads I have enjoyed love this area it is a nice slow pace compared to life in the Metrowest area here. I tease my parents and call their new homestead (40 acres complete with dirtbike trails) DUMBARTON. Dad refers to your place as GOOFYTOWN as the closest hardware store and grocery store is there.

Thanks for the suggestions. A996S, those roads sound great, and extend the trip a little bit. I'm not really looking for day trips or overnighters, just fun back roads that I can take the wife out to lunch on. Those look like the ticket. I'll post up here when I get around to going...

Also-don't be afraid to explore side roads off the roads mentioned above...

**Look into North Amherst Road in Bedford. It goes from the old police station up to New Boston**
