I was thinking the same thing. My house could use a good dusting. The grass needs to be mowed. There is a lot of things to do around here. Will you work for food or  . :D

He's outta work, needs a job and offered his good will. I think that's pretty freakin big of em. As he said, he's been down that road before.

I'll post up pics of the bad part of the ride later on.
I would be depressed for a good while if this happened on one of my rides.

Pictures don't mean anything! This was an unfortunate event! If anyone wants to see the crash site go ride out there and look for the paint on the guardrail!:twofinger :twofinger

Skid mark 1 from the Green ZX-12
Skid mark 2 from the R-1
I was behind both of these guys and witnesses each one of those skids.
Skid mark 3 I think is from someone else later in the day.

Skid 3 could actually be the first skid mark, seems like the people who skidded after the first person would probably have stopped behind that person. So I should have labeled skid 3 as 1 and vice versa.
Skid 3 is very small, mostly on the shoulder.

Now that I look at them again in the individual pictures yes Skid 3 was from the RC 51.

Where is the sand?
conclusion: People going into the turn way too hot for their own ability. Nothing wrong with that. We have all done it before but learned very quickly how to avoid it in the future.
Saturday 8/7 VT/Berkshire ride
From the looks of the pics to me:
The turn looks VERY deciving. It looks like it takes a quick 'dogleg' to the right as it goes over the hill, and then hits hard left decreasing radius. This would put you too far off an 'optimal' line, when you were expecting to begin turn-in as far to the right as possible. Less than optimal line + Late turn-in = late apex = needs more lean angle.
Was skid #3 the first one to go 'offroading' but didn't go down :dunno:
Again: Glad everyone is doing well. Whatever I can do is still on the table. Unfortunatly the offer is extended to those involved you lazy bastages :twofinger :D

The mark labeled skid make 3, if I remember correctly wasn't a skid mark, but rather something that had spilled on the road. The other 2 are definately from our group, I believe #2 is the R1 and #1 is the green ZX12. As far as the sand, when the Police, ambulance and local fire dept. showed up they swept the area clean of sand and small gravel, it was there, believe me. We also added to the sand problem with all our running around checking on people and bikes so the area was swept before the crews left.

Erin never skidded and never left a skid mark, I remember clearly looking and wondered why there was no skid leading to her bike, but the other two most certainly are from the R1 and ZX12.. Here is a pic of where the RC ended in the guardrail. The third mark was not done by us, but probably someone else going south on 8A got freaked out by the skid marks and did that?

Not me. I took the time to show a whole lot of people some new roads. Until that incident, it was a positive experience for everyone (I hope). I rode at a pace that the group seemed to enjoy. If I was going too fast for them, I wouldn't have seen the crash begin in my mirror.
I woulda been depressed had I gone down, but I didn't.
I'm not a babysitter. If someone goes down on a ride of mine, I am concerned and bummed that it happened, but it won't discourage me from leading another ride. You can't be responsible for how other people ride and that's all there is to it.

If your were within eyesight of the riders in back of you, did you warn others of the alleged road hazard by kicking you leg out as you went by it?
I didn't see any evidence that such a warning was given.

To bad it's going to rain this weekend, or I would go ride, maybe I will do some truck shopping? What I should do is just beef up the exploder so it will handle the trailer?? Hmmm, What to do, what to do???? Anyone have an idea on this? My truck is paid off so I can play around with it, rather than be paying for a new vehicle for 4 or 5 years.... I guess I will start a new topic on this elsewhere.... :D
