    Sounds good.

(That's the parking lot between the end of 89 and Grappone Toyota, correct?)

That's the one, i will be on the blue FZ6 (to separate myself from all the other bikes there before 6am on a Saturday(Sarcasm)).

If you are not there by 6am i am going to have to roll out though, so I don't miss the meet up.

Should be a fun ride! See you bright tailed and bushy eyed.

Re: Saturday, July 31st COD Ride!

What a beautiful day. And what a bunch of hard core riders! 17 riders all told where on time at BK for a 6:45 Stands Up...and that included John from Lebanon, Rob from Hillsboro, Ox from Portsmouth and Ken from Salsbury. For those guys it truly was a 'crack of dawn' ride!

Thanks to Sam for hooking up my com so I could use my Noise Cancelling earbuds. It was really pretty cool...4 of us were on comms. For those who are intersted, here's what I have...

    Amazon.com: Midland LXT480VP3 Two-Way Radios: Electronics

Amazon.com: Midland AVPH2 Closed Face Helment Headset for Midland GMRS: Electronics

Amazon.com: Audio-Technica ATH ANC3BK NoiseCancel Earphone BK!: Electronics

    These worked great!

We headed to Chez Vachon where the had a back room set up for all of us. We were in and out in an hour.

I know there are some pics folks, so lets get 'em posted!

From there it was a series of back roads that went on and on...parts of which were repeated. Eventually, we landed at the Lion, (...there's a surprise!) and had coffee. From there we headed via more new roads towards Seacoast.

A gorgeous day all told... no tickets...!!!

    Pics....please!!!

Would any two-way radio work? Why Midland? Any GMRS?

    Great ride today! Thanks Dave!

Great seeing everyone and some new faces.

Stupid dirt filled potholes and bozo backing out of driveway on a corner!

Bike performed awesome today!! Went to Kyles suspension seminar and it all clicked about what was going on with my bike.

Re: Saturday, July 31st COD Ride!

Home from an unwarranted extended visit to Lawrence General. For whatever reason the doc wanted to x-ray my leg, pelvis and hips. Unfortunately after the x-rays were taken the staff was unable to get the images out of the x-ray machine. They tried for 2 hours at which time they suggested I go in for another set. I'm pretty sure I'm fine, the doc said she was 99% sure I'm fine so I decided to head home and let them straighten it all out on Monday.

So here's the do as I say, not as I do part:

First, a few seconds following distance goes away real quick when there's an obstacle in front of you that needs to be avoided. Leave plenty of room!

Second, just because riding pants aren't dunk tank friendly doesn't mean one should leave them at home and wear jeans. I hit freakin' dead grass and it removed denim and cost me a small bit of skin off my right knee.

Third, if you're going to ride, have NESR riders around as they will take care of you until the paramedics arrive, make sure your gear and bike are transported and continually check on your status.

Thanks everyone and sorry for putting a damper on a GREAT ride!

Oh, here's a little more humor from my visit.

Me: Oh yeah, seat belt buckled and the airbag deployed as designed.

Yes and no. There isn't a standard for earphone and mic connections meaning it could be a 1 prong or 2 prong plug and even the pin wiring in the plugs could be different. So, any radio could work but you have to make sure you match the helmet headset with the brand of radio you're going to use. The headsets use to come with adapter plugs so they were compatible with all of them but I haven't seen that convenience lately. This incompatibility passes along to iPods, cell phones, GPS receivers and RADAR detectors so don't go plugging them into your headset without prior validation.

Re: Saturday, July 31st COD Ride!

Good to hear you're home Rob...let me know if the xrays prove to be negative. Gotta tell you, I was pretty worried when I heard Sam's 'rider down'. I hustled back and was stunned to see you laid out...and your bike hugging that little sapling.

More room maybe, but as I reviewd the scene, it seems to me that it was a perfect storm of negative conditions and situations. First, the car just edging out of the driveway. He wasn't going anywhere but your attention is diverted as you attempt to make eye contact and confirm he is staying put. In the meantime, in front, the rider who had just done the same thing rounds a corner, off line a bit as he goes wide because of the car, and hits a dirt filled pothole, experiences a bit of a shimmy and grabs some brake, tucking the front end. By the time you look back from the cager, you're faced with the same pothole AND a rider sliding across your preferred line.

You're on my short A-List of a collective of riders I love riding with. For very good reason. Don't beat yourself up over this...! Good point about the pants though. I was wearing 'draggin' jeans...leather or ballistice pants...are better. (John was wearing ballistic and fared pretty well even though he wasn't lucky enough (?) to land on the grass!)

And John...dont beat yourself up either. There isn't a rider among us that has been riding for more than a few years that hasn't had a similar experience. Learn from it and move on.

I really appreciate how everyone stepped up. Sam helping with directions, Vicki keeping the sun off Rob, and all the others who pushed bikes around, stayed together, and made managed the logistics.

Finally, I to want to thank everyone for joining the ride today! It was indeed awesome.

Seacoast had a rocking party! Great turn out and a good time!!!

    ...but
