Cool!
Looks like we are going to have a nice little group to upset Blue's neighbors!
I basically suck at making decisions, so the ride info is still up in there air. But I can tell you that we will be riding around central Vt, so Waitsfield, Rochester, Randolf, Barre area...then depedning on whether some us go with the Rat Pack, or start in Hinesburg, take 17 over then head up to Underhill, or take The Notch over from Stowe.
Either way, its going to be around a 2hr ride, especially if we meet up with the NH peeps South of Barre.
If you are not in for the ride, or it ends up being too cold out for some of us (me included) then you can meet at the Jiffy Mart Mobile on Rt15 in Underhill Flats.

Wicked...
Where are we going to meet you NH Riders?
FTMS sent me a few ride ideas that are almost identical to markbvt's ride...except they start in NH. Its most likely going to be a chilly start if ya'll be riding, so you tell us where to meet you!
NH Riders I have on the VIP List are: jnm988, FTMS, Reiobard, MzdaGrl, and RandyO (but he is doing his own thing ;)) am I missing anyone coming from any other NE State?

From the Barre meetup spot, there are two options: either head south on Rt 110 to South Royalton, or head east on Rt 302 to Rt 25, south on Rt 25 past East Corinth, west on Goose Green Rd and Rt 113 to Chelsea, then south on Rt 110 to South Royalton.
Which route we take will depend on the weather and what time we need to meet up with people further south.
From South Royalton, we'll head west on Rt 14 and Rt 107 to Bethel, north on Rt 12 to Camp Brook Rd, Camp Brook Rd/Bethel Mountain Rd over the Rochester Gap, Rt 100 north to Waitsfield, Rt 17 west over the App Gap, Huntington Rd to just shy of Richmond, Hinesburg Rd to the intersection where it makes a 90-degree left, we'll turn right, short dirt section into Richmond (thanks to the bridge in downtown Richmond being closed), Browns Trace Rd to Jericho, Rt 15 to Underhill.
If people want to, we can stop for lunch at the Rochester Cafe, but lunch seems a little unnecessary to me when we're heading to a BBQ right after the ride.
Since MotoFreak is having a hard time making decisions, please allow me to step on everyone's toes and announce that the meeting spot is at the gas station at the corner of Rt 110 and Rt 14 in South Royalton at, say, 11:30-11:45 or so. Everyone cool with that?

They just repaved the begining of this road through the sweet spots. It is about 10 mins from me. From there to get to Underhill is probally 3 hrs.

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
If you go 302 to 25 we could meet at 25 and Goose Green. If you go down 110 we could meet in Chelsea at the green.
If NH riders want to meet at my place i can lead to meet up with the rest. My place is easy to get to with a large sign at the end of the driveway.
-
Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
We can always have multiple meeting spots. Rt 25 and Goose Green Rd at 10:30 to meet up with you and whoever else you bring along, and if anyone's coming up from further south (kbroderick? Mr Bread?), they can meet us in South Royalton at 11:30.

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
I'm cool with that...you'll be at the house round 3-330, just in time to be starving and in need of warm Chili!!!
Blue and I however cannot make it, cause she really should not be doing a 100+ mile ride (she is still under the weather), and I am on Grill Duty.
But we still want to ride!
So, I am thinking of a smaller/shorter ride...something like Rt 17, then back up 100 to Stowe, hit the Notch, then be back in Underhill in time to make tasty treats for everyone!
More to follow with meeting time and place.
Mark, is anyone from your Rat Pack going to come to the BBQ? They are def. welcome, just need a ball park # if you can get one.
Also, if anyone is inviting a friend, or someone who is not on the forum, please let me know!
-
Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
This is interesting....I just can't make the ride, for obvious reasons. Am I still welcome to the partay? :D

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18

I would think we'd be there earlier, actually. I'm guessing more like 2-2:30.

I think Jason (graphite Daytona 675) is planning to be there. No idea about anyone else. I'll try to find out.

RT 113, though on it only 4 miles is VERY nasty. I had the gixxer completely off the pavement on that section. When you head up goose green rd, you want to stay to the right. Taking a left puts you onto Eagle Hollow RD which is dirt...was paved, they tore it up and never repaved it.
Watch it on 113 though.
goose green rd is 2-3 miles from my place

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
Thanks for the heads up. We'll take it slow and easy on 113.

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
OK!
Ride finalization...
Long Ride:
Meet at 9am at McDonald's parking lot on Williston Rd. in S. Burlington
9:45 in Barre at the Citgo Intersection of 302 and 110.
Riders will then meet at the INT of RT 25 and Goose Green Rd at 10:30 with FTMS and the NH Crew!
Proceed to the Rochester Gap, up to 17 and Meet up with the Other VT Riders.
Sound ok Mark?
Short Ride:
Meet at the Hinesburg Mobile Station at 11:30/12.
Hit some Local roads, take 17 from New Haven to the Top where we will meet up with Mark and FTMS!
Then we, as one big happy group (that Mark does not like riding in ;)) will head to Underhill for Food!
*IMPORTANT NOTICE*
BBQ Time has changed to 2:30
If you are meeting us at the Rt15 Mobile in Underhill, please note that we will be there AROUND 2:30...could be earlier, but most likely 15 min later ;).
If you are early or late to meet at the Mobile, call my cell at 802-355-4888 for Directions!
Pm has been sent to all parties to see who is still in, who is going on what ride (so ride leaders can know what kinda of #'s to expect) and who is just coming for the BBQ.
Please keep in mind that it will be a bit chilly, so dress warm, both rides with be over 1.5hrs!

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
I think I am in. I haven't met any of you guys yet but I need to meet some people to ride with. I am in the WRJ area so I might try to meet up with the NH crew as they come up.
I think my Speedy is out of commission for a bit, hopefully it will be ready by Saturday.
Is anyone heading out and going to be on 91 south of 89? We could meet up.

No. Correction: We will meet at the intersection of Rt 25 and Goose Green Rd at 10:30 (give or take a few minutes). Oh, also, I think the gas station at the 302/110 intersection in Barre is a Citgo, not a Mobil. At any rate, it's the only gas station there.
If anyone wants to meet us in South Royalton at the intersection of Rt 110 and Rt 14, be there at about 11:30.
And yes, we can meet you at the App Gap. We'll meet you at the overlook at the top. Remember, take it easy there -- even if tires are properly warmed up, the road surface will probably be cold. Don't want anyone to crash.

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
Having put together group rides for the past 6 years, I can tell you that the people going only for the BBQ shouldn't be too much in advance. There is often things that go wrong on any given ride, that will make your group come back home later than what you had expected. I for one will be there a bit later if I go, to make sure you guys are back from the ride. :)
Oh yeah...if anyone could PM me the house address, I'd appreciate it. I'll use the GPS and go straight there. If I go I'm going to bring some grub to eat. ;)

There's nothing wrong with riding on gravel roads. Most folks keep it under 80 or so though...

Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
hey! announcing my return to the forum! been unable to login for a while, due to buying the house and moving, and all that... and i haven't seen alot of you either... *sniff* also due to house buying, moving, nasty rainy and/or cold weather, working nights, etc. but i'm deffinatly in for saturday. however, i won't be able to bring the f4. on my way home from work last week, hit SOMETHING that sliced the rear pretty good. maybe 500 miles or less, plus a track day, and i need ANOTHER new tire. my luck, huh? AND, only 50 or so miles from my 6,000 for this year, that i wanted so badly. oh well, there's always next year.
also, SUPER kudos to trouble, for "emergency road-side service" at 7:30 at night. dude that was awesome, its really nice to know I've got people I can count on. he had a patch kit, we plugged the hole, managed 29 psi into it, and he folllowed me all the way home... at 40mph on 116!
anyway, i'll be there saturday, not sure if kris will join me or not, i'll see if i can't get her to tag along. we'll see you all then! -ty
-
Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
Alright Ty! Bring the girl bro...especially if you are coming up in the cage!
Things are coming together nicely...we've got food figured out (going shopping on Friday!). Ride info and times are as good as they are going to get...it would be nice to know who is going on which ride, but I guess we'll just find out when we get to the meeting spots. Though if you are going to join in with Mark, please let him know where, don't wanna be leavin peeps waiting at a gas station all day (like those people meeting us at the Mobile in Underhill ;))
Food will be chili (hot and mild) cornbread, some sort of salad, marinated grilled chicken tenders, hotdogs, cider donuts w/ cider, and variious snacks!
Please dress warm for the rides, as it will be about 50*...Mary at RSM (thats road side marine) has the Cortech Scarab Winter Gloves in stock...so go get em if you want warm mitts!
See ya'll Sat!!!!
-
Re: VT: Year End Ride and BBQ 10/18
I'm gonna have to bow out. My parents and brothers are coming up to go out to dinner for my b-day.
I might be in for the ride though, it could be early enough if we leave at 1000.
I'll keep you posted.
