Motorcyclist faces road rage related charges, police say
A motorcyclist who became enraged at another motorist in South Burlington Monday evening faces simple assault, disorderly conduct and other charges, South Burlington Police said.
Police said they received a report of a loud dispute following what was described as a car versus motorcycle crash near the intersection of Swift and Farrell streets in South Burlington.
It turns out the two vehicles had not crashed into each other, police said. But authorities said that during the dispute, Justin McKenzie, 42, of Colchester, repeatedly rammed a vehicle owned by Lisa Tomasik of Hinesburg.
Police said McKenzie also pounded Tomasik’s car with his fist, causing damage, and threw his helmet to the ground. Tomasik told police McKenzie threatened multiple times to assault her, authorities said.
McKenzie fled the scene but was caught a short distance away from where the dispute erupted, police said. He was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care with a possible head injury, police said.
He is due in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division in Burlington today to face charges of disorderly conduct, simple assault, negligent operation and unlawful mischief, police said.
