Gearbox arrived today. Got the shift forks, drum and shift shaft as well as all the gears. Everything looks brand new!No signs of wear on any of the dogs and the forks look to be in perfect shape and not bent. I hope this continues to go as smoothly as it has been.
So, all that's left after the gearbox install is:
Install engine parts
Dyno
Repair plastics
Buy tires
Hey PPS Eric, can you guys help with some tuning going off a 0 map?
I rebuilt my first tranny 2 years ago, wasnt very fun but a good learning experiance
ya you get the "well i might as well" syndrome or at least i do.
On a tz or rs you can have the tranny out and change a gear ratio and reinstall between practices. Things are built to race. Say in turn three if the motor is spinning too slow you don't change the sprocket which would compromise the rest of the track you only change the 2nd gear.
ha ha ya thats what im talking about, sounds like it will be a sick motor! i hope that not me this year! should just have to put in a piston and thats it.
Damn, I can't wait for the season to start! Lately it's all I can seem to think about. I was wondering though, will the bike be able to pass tech inspection with cracked plastic? A new tail section would cost me several hundred bucks that I'd rather spend on tires, fuel, etc. And if I'm gonna do that, then I may as well...![]()
Drill a hole at the end of the crack to stop the crack from spreading then using tiny zip ties and a drill stitch it together. I cannot stop thinking about it. All day everyday.

<sigh> I have that disease. Just a few maintenance items to do, no problem (yeah, right). Sometimes it sucks having a shop. It gets me in trouble.
