    Wirelessly posted (HTC EVO "DROID" : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

I thought you could do 1 number plate on the rear (on top of the tail).
You can also put number plates on the side of the bike.

Doc, I think chuck painted yellow plates because he thought he could bump this year but don told him he couldn't but the yellow was there already.

Kinda what I was picking on him about... Painted a little too soon.

I'd have done the same thing. He still plans to bump within a weekend or two, right?

Doc giving shit about bumping too soon? What's next, preteen making fun of people for looking young?

why should I paint it white, when I'll probably bump the 2nd or 3rd weekend and have to repaint?

This way? I just get the white vinyl, cover the yellow and peel it off when I bump.

Paint it white, then you just need black numbers, for when you bump...

Did anyone catch the rules regarding cameras?

6.1.8 Cameras of any kind (i.e. camcorders, digital cameras, etc.) are not permitted to be mounted to any helmet at any time. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

6.1.9 Cameras or recording devices found mounted to helmets may result in a fine and/or punitive action including but not limited to disqualification.

7.1.7.4 Any recording devices, cameras, camcorders, etc. mounted to a machine must be approved by tech in writing.

    Is this new this year?

I'm sad they did not take my request for Sportsman in to account. I guess they don't want a couple of more bikes in that class.

I am still going to protest.

What was the request? Maybe a few of us need to request it.

I suspect the number of cameras coming off during races has them concerned. I don't have a problem with the rules as written there.

Re: 2011 LRRS Rulebook is out

The CCS/ASRA website has the 2011 rulebook posted and it lists that only one number plate on the front is allowed, if there is an air intake the number plate must be on the scoring side, and it says 6" or 4" numbers are ok for the rear plates...

The whole point here is that it needs to be clear and legible.

If they wanted everyone to paint another plate, they announced it too late and no one will probably do it. I certainly won't.

I mean honestly, look at my avatar. That is perfectly readable and reasonable.

Yes, in a still picture. How about at 140 down the straight? Or bomb-assing through the bowl? Or when the bikes upside down in the grass somewhere? I think these are why they want readable numbers.
Like when I was black flagged because a motards axle was coming out. "The motard on the straights axle is coming out! Which motard? Theres 4 of them."

    Exactly.

That's exactly what Timing and Scoring/Tech/Cornerworkers are trying to say.

Explain to me how having a duplicate front plate is going to help in any of those situations?

And explain to me with the way sportbikes are designed these days how you are going to fit anything any more clearly than the way we've been doing it for several years now?

If anything it could make it more confusing if you have a single or double digit number. Take for example 35: If you have two front plates across the front of the bike it could be read as 35, 353, or 535 depending on the angle you look at it or the vantage point of the corner worker.

Regarding the specific case that you mention, the motards already have HUGE number plates... if they can't read those, there is no way they are reading an R6's number from any vantage point.

And it already is, so don't try to change the requirements three weeks before the first race.

Umm, if your bike is laying on the left side, the number plate would be in the grass. Or if the corner worker is on the right, such as going over the hill, or in the bowl. Not saying its always gonna be perfect, but I think thats what they're implying.

Don't worry about it, I'm sure when you tell them, 'I don't feel like conforming to your rules' they'll just let you slide.

Tough guy stance it here, we know you're going to muscle up and show everyone who's boss when it comes down to it.

Are you referring to the rules in the rulebook, or the pseudo-rules emailed between 5 people?

All rules are subject to interpretation by the race director and may be changed at any time. So your answer is yes. Any and all rules, written, whispered, or invented spur of the moment.

The rulebook notes that tech has the final say, so even if you go to the letter of the printed rule book, they can tell you to pound sand, just FYI.

I don't see an issue with your numbers, but it must have been a big enough deal for them to go through this exercise in the first place.

I don't even disagree with the rule. I agree with DB, they want the CWs to be able to identify any bike from the perspective of any CW. Makes sense to me.

Changing shit 3 weeks before opening weekend when most people have their stuff painted, that is kinda rough. Regardless the book states that tech and/or timing and scoring has full final discretion, so at the end of the day no matter what anyone says on the interwebz, we're all going to do what they make us in order to race. I hope S&C brings plenty of vinyl...

Did you miss the part about the scoring/timing camera being on the RIGHT side of the track as you go down the front straight?

Everyone is playing by the rules KB. The rules just changed with 3 weeks to go until the first race weekend. Also, there is an emailed set of rules, a PDF set of rules and an interpreted case by case set of rules. That's where the problem lies.
    I understand Degs.

I just think that given the reason to dispute anything everyone is all over it. Show up first weekend with what you got. If they don't like it they will tell you. Then you go to miles and get an additional plate and put some numbers on. Simple fix really.

As far as I am concerned if your numbers are clearly visible, on the front and back of the bike you will "should" be fine through tech.
