    Aftermarket Tach's?

Aight, so I royally busted the stock gauges on my SV... I can survive without one, but I really like knowing exactly where I'm shifting and being consistent with it so I'm exploring aftermarket replacements.

So far the Vapor looks to be the ticket.... but I also the look of a classic, easy to read analog tach.

    Re: Aftermarket Tach's?

Pete, i have the vapor. The bar graph is a little funky but you get used to it. It also has a digital read out. But the cool thing is it has a programmable shift light so you don't have to watch the tach at all.

It also has coolant temp, ambient air temp, makes some incredible pancakes in the morning, and all sorts of cool ass stuff I have no idea how to use.

I'd love to, but the SV needs a LOTS of lovin before she rides again. Gotta save the pennies where I can. I'm almost contemplating not even gettng tach & just using my shift points, but I like using it as an indicator of how well I'm driving out of the corners.

The SPA's are the shiznit. Worth the bucks. Check eBay....

I may or may not have a couple busted-ish but workable tachs in the garage, I'll poke around for ya.

Add this to the list of retarded expensive alternatives, but this thing is nuts. The Outlaw on BoRn has something similar, not sure if its the same model.

    Re: Aftermarket Tach's?

i had the vapor on my 560 SMR. it was great for that purpose... dont know how well it would work if youre primarily concerned with the tach though, its bar graph was relatively hard to read accurately. it did have a lot of cool features though- high and low shift lights, trip, odo, lap timer, coolant temp, high and low coolant temp warning lights, time, etc. it also remembered max rpm and mph.

I've got a stock gauge cluster for an old style SV (99-01?) sitting in my garage. If you want to come by and get it, you can have it.
