    Superbike Family on TV

Oh boy.... have you guys seen this ? I set my DVR to record. Pegram is a bit of a snake, but a funny guy for sure. Some how he can get these companies to give his truck loads of cash to keep superbike racing. He must be a hell of a salesmen.

Maybe it will be good... maybe it will suck. Either way it looks to be a couple of laughs.

    SG -
Pegram was at the next table over when we were having dinner at that steakhouse during the Ducati Revs NJ event last year. Not sure if you & Robb were there yet or not.

At one point, Larry's youngest started getting fussy. MacMartin had a few margaritas in him and said "someone shut that fuckin' kid up" (only loud enough for us to hear, thankfully). I told him who it was, but I think the tequila had already set in.

He seemed nice enough when we talked with him at his trailer. Should be an interesting show.

    Re: Superbike Family on TV

Johnny, anything would be better than JRP's show!

Joel, yes I remember Larry @ the restuarant. I can totally picture MacMartin not missing a beat with that comment!

I get along with him, but he screwed me over at the Loudon Classic in 2002. He protested me after I beat him in the rain. I got the Holeshot (and the Traxxion Dynamics $250 check) and then promptly tucked the front in T2, and broke my toe-tang off my shift lever. I picked up the bike in last place... and in 3rd gear, rode to the T3-T10 Split and stopped. I let the field go by and then rode slowly to pitlane. Once in the pits, I stopped and was talking to Pat Doyle and someone yelled to me, " just ride for points!" So I took off, in 3rd gear and proceeded to place ALOT of people and finish in 5th place in the race. On the rev limiter all the way down the front straight, out of T2, over the hill and back down the front straight: Baaaaaaaah bup bupbupbupbubupbupbupbupbupbupbupbupbupbupbupbupbupbubpubpub!!!
It was a brand new New England Performance Engine Pat Doyle built for me, and he was cringing every lap I rode by!!

haha.. After the race "The Worm" protested me saying I cut the track (which I did, but went and stopped in the pits) and then rode around for 20 laps in the rain with 1 gear! FUSA said they looked at the lap times and made an adjustment for the time I gained by cutting the track and that moved me back blah blah blah.

That year FUSA offered a pretty big championship bonus for the Top 10 Team Owners. Larry claimed he was just trying mininize the damage of getting whooped in the rain, but it hurt me in the championship as it changed my position from 5th on track to 13th (first rider 1 lap down). I told him off and asked him how it felt getting passed by me with only 3rd gear! LOL

Last time I went to Laguna Seca (2007?) to watch AMA and ride a Ducati Dealer Track Day, I saw one of his mechanics at the bar the night before the AMA races. I bet him a Dollar that Ben Attard would whoop Pegrams ass in the 600FX race. He took the bet. Then Sunday night at another bar, I was ordering drinks and pegram looks over and yells to me: " Did you give John his dollar?!!?!" :-)

But I am not bitter LOL

    Just set my DVR.

If you have FIOS...go to Menu > Search > Enter "The Superbike" > it should come up as one of the results.

    HA! Good behind-the-scenes story.

When we were watching the 'hardcard holders' at NJMP, I asked Eric why Pegram's posture was so whacked on the bike. He said it was due to a broken hip (maybe the crash in the clip?).

Eric said he doesn't know anyone that rides faster with a worse riding position.

    Re: Superbike Family on TV

Mick Doohan and Kevin Schwantz both have messedup/crossed up styles while going left into turns. I'd say they are alot faster than Larry!

Larry did break his hip or pelvis or something and a year or two had surgury to correct the work that previously done. I dont think it was that crashed they showed on the preview clip. I think he broke himself dirt tracking.

He said that was the reason why his body position was so bad, becausehe had limited movement on the bike from his hip/pelvis. But I haven't seen any improvement in his riding style since he had the corrective surgury. But hey, he can occassionally run at the front of AMA superbike races and even stole a few wins the last couple of years...so it must work for him.

    Sounds promising!

I just hope this doesn't go the route of American Chopper, where it becomes less about bikes and more about the family drama.

Successful American "reality" TV is always about the personal drama. If there is no drama, they will contrive some or kill the show.
