Hmmmm. Not sure How I feel about this. I'm caught in the middle of yay and nay in my enthusiasm.:kham:
I understand that there needs to be structure. But I think a lot of volunteering efforts are going to decline.
And don't forget your helmet.

Oh and Gino... as a medical professional, when I cornerworked I thought of myself as a "just in case" response person.
I worked doing my normal duties (picking up bikes and cleaning up spills) but "just in case" someone had an amputation or a hear attack or something serious I would be there just a lttle sooner than the ambulance crew AND I would be able to give them information as to HOW the injury occured. (sometimes very important information that an ambulance crew never hears)
Rob is the go to guy for information on this stuff. However, earlier, he was having a problem logging in to NESR.
Before getting to exited, please remember that last year we only reached these new numbers of paid workers a couple of times. When the weather stinks, it's funny how many people back out.
This is just a fair and equatable way for folks to sign up. Another big plus will be for Laura. For the first time, she'll actually have a basic count of people and experience levels before 7:30. If we're going to be short, which happens more than you may think, she'll have some extra time to come up with a plan.
Laura's not what you'd call a morning person.
Taking 25 % of a full weekends pay to stay overnight isn't right in my opinion .
I will stay at my friends up the road.
Maybe the track can set up a CW camping zone and that small area can be free!
Could the USM charge the track more and then repay the CW for camping without differing the cost to the racers? :dunno:
If you have a garage do you still have to pay for the camping spot?
just my thought, i assume you still need to pay for a camping spot, but i am curious about elec? will i have to pay for that even thou i rent a garge and elec is included??? I wanna run a cord across the lanes (w/ speed bump of course)
anyone know a def yey or nay
apparently i have pre-maturely posted the sign up procedure, so please note that the version that i posted is NOT the final version. The final version will be posted by someone other than me, so the post has been deleted.
It also seems that there was a typo in one of the original posts about helmets, It stated that bicycle helmets would suffice, it should have read that bicycle helmets will NOT suffice. not sure what happened, but it is very clear that they will not and it was a typo.
Also, i will only be responding to this thread in regards to the actual work duties and no longer answering any questions on policy change. Come to the track, work and see how much fun it is!
Just got the us marshall e-mail - some one please clarify what "short worker" helmet is??
- Helmets will be required for all hot track activity. For 2010, allowed helmets include hockey, snowboard, and ski style (NO bicycle helmets). For 2011, a "Short Worker" helmet will be required. Further details on 2011 helmet specs will come from track management soon.
The white helmets that the ambulance folks wear are Short worker helmets.

thanks, what I thought just an odd / ambiguous name
Hey anyone find where to buy short worker yet? I have a black street helmet but I look like Gazoo in most halfies with my cranium. preferably white.
track has not provided helmet specifications yet, so we have no way of making a recommendation. the track says that they will be providing loaner helmets.
Anyone who wants information on helmets should contact the track, because they have not told us anything beyond what we have passed on. Sorry guys...
Nothing against Rob or USM but why would the track tell us any different if the USM cannot get the info?
I think there is some super secrete stuff going on here.... NOT... Why it is so difficult to share a make and model number of a piece of equipment that is already in use? I don't get it.
Are they going to dish out head socks for these shared helmets? I don't want anyone's cooties.
Not sure if anyone else can get information, but if people other than the USM ask then maybe they will think it is not "just them again" asking. No idea about head socks, i am planning on bringing my own (i think they are like $2 or something) and a can of lysol.
I have a cool new white helmet coming today.
I am thinking this one will be both functional and make a fashion statement.
got the email this am that USM's not involved this week end due to insurance issue with NHMS so we are "working" for the track this one time. This trying to help out the race effort is getting little complicated. and yes, i am bringing own coodie free gazoo helmet.
If they can not spec out a helmet anything shroud be game. I'm going to wear my $300 Mt.Bike helmet.
Called 7-Mary-3 and he was nice enough to send me an old helmet. :gayfight:
Safety white too.:twothumb:
I just read through this whole thread, I'm thinking of doing this next year seeing I've got a new job and I'll have weekends off.
What's the deal with camping and entry fees? Are they covered?
Is lunch still included?
What's the actual pay per day?
I'm trying to plan what my expenses would be when driving up from Connecticut.
