I've sent I my app for a race license, and just have a few more things to button up before I start racing next year. Here's the downer. I just heard from a friend that I can't race my GSXR 1000 as a novice. Is this true?
You can, but only in one race per weekend, the 20 minute GTO race.

hah. i dont see the rule in the rulebook now so whatever, run the 1000 in all the hw and gto, unlimited races.
Hah. Looking at the rule book, there are no specific class descriptions for novice. Only amateur and expert. I suspect this is deliberate and means "run what ya brung, in moderation". After all, Novice is just a kinda get your feet wet kind of class.

Interesting, I also thought heavyweight was restricted to 750cc I4 bikes.
Rich gets around NHMS pretty darn good, so I think he'll do okay racing the bike bike(until he decides to ditch it to have more fun on something that can race more classes)...as long as he can keep the swingarm in one piece.![]()

It is a busy Friday and Saturday morning. IT can be done . We all have been thru it. It helps to have support to run around and pick things up and get things situated.
You can have:
White front section and white tail number plates ready to go for April.
All your safety wire done.

^ This.
You will get a temporary (paper) copy of your CCS/LRRS license after completing Penguin School. (Isn't Fishtail also able to qualify you for your license?)
From this point, just latch onto someone you know to show you the process. It's not difficult once you get used to it. It's just that there's a bit more to do your rookie weekend. Such as, getting your number and putting them on your bike.
The rest is still the same, registration (you will NOT be able to pre-register if you do not yet have your license, which you won't if you haven't done Penguin yet) and tech.
Penguin needs to be done on Friday correct?
Then I can register and pass tech on Saturday. I can have the wife with blank white plates and fully wired.
Looking at the proposed 2012 rule book, there are 12 official novice classes listed:
Novice UL, LW, MW and HW Superbike
Novice UL GTL, GTL, GTU and GTO
Novice UL GP, LW GP, MW GP and HW GP
There is no such definition for HW GP, but there is Unlimited GP... that and GTO would be the only classes that a 1000cc inline 4 would be legal for. A sprint and a GT is a good workout, especially if you're wrestling a liter bike around.
There is also this gem: 4.4Riders must enter for the lowest displacement class that their motorcycle is eligible for and "riding up a class" is not allowed. The rules for each class will be based on a similar standard CCS class
So much for cherry picking HWSB with my GS500...![]()
