haha - If you look in your Suomy, behind the liner you'll notice deep channels that run through it. Those are not in most helmets. The channels allow the foam to expand in the event that you need to dissipate some g forces. Anything foreign near that environment has the potential to effect that system. Whether we're talking 1%, 10% or 50% - I don't know. The potential is there and the fact that this company doesn't even demo on a roadracing helmet that is SIGNIFICANTLY tighter around your head (to keep it planted at 160mph) well, let's just say...I'm really on the fence about this product.Quote:

You arent the only one guy... the EJECT argument has been going on for a few years now. I may be incorrect also but I do not believe that it has ever been used successfully at NHMS following a crash to get a riders helmet off. pretty sure the couple times its been tried it failed.

I do love mine and switched to another brand for one season and 1 crash. all my other crashes have been in Suomy and I keep going back so I think that says something about how much I like them. the only part of the eject that would interfere with the channels is the tube. If the foam crushes into the channels that much where the tube stops it than I bet you're in the hospital unconscious at a minimum.Quote:

Can anyone give an example where eject was used successfully?
It has been used successfully in a motorcycle crash at LRRS. It is not necessary in most cases, and the safety crew is very good at removing a helmet without it.
i think thats the key here. ive seen some gnarly crashes this year in SX (where they claim teh eject system is mandatory) and have yet to see it be used. admittedly they dont show everything on TV, but...Quote:

There are two failures documented on this forum alone.
Burgs we're basically on the same side here. I remember those as, 'yea that guy' or 'I heard' not names but maybe I just don't remember.
I think names/numbers or a count from a first hand would be more interesting/meaningful. I would also guess that corner workers/safe crew would not be able to say if one did fail but that's the conspiracy in me.
Lou has documented and commented first hand failure of his in his race report linked in this thread. It's no "some guy said". They attempted to use it after his crash. It didn't work.

Now the successful one, I'm not sure how you would quantify(is that the right word?) that if it saved him injury. But, if we got up to a few fails and still only one successful I would think the track, and I'm told it comes from above just NHMS, would look at it again. Keep your paperwork.

plus my helmet is up in may or june and I don't think you can remove and reinstall them so I'm buying 2.
