It depends on what bike you have.
Some bikes, they really make a difference.

Some bikes they are an utter complete waste of money.

Do not grab a map from the internet and dump it in there for "better performance"
    It ain't going to happen.

I got an SV, I had it dynoed at RJ's for 300 bucks, it is marginally smoother
at the low rpm range. I gained a half pound of torque and under 3 hp.

500 bucks for the PCIII and dyno ... was it worth it?

Hell no. Take your money and go see Peter Kates to upgrade your suspension.
You will get much more return for your money that way.

    Flame suit off/*

If you disagree with me and you never had a PCIII installed, then you are full of crap. I will agree that some bikes really need it. Not an SV.

    I agree with ^^

The Graves map I got from the Web was almost SPOT ON for A/F ratio and had the engine within .25 hp of optimum. But if you get a PCIII get it dyno'ed so you know its running correctly.

The PC's don't seem to do much for the Twins.. I sold my PCII and had ryno Flash my ECU, not gonna fine tune as good as a dyno machine but I don't care i'm not racing, or dragging..

even racing it isn't a big deal. i dont have one on my race bike...i just regeared it. and i out-motor a lot of the new style R6's w/ it.

Edit: i'm talkin in general...i'm know it helps but its not crucial, i'd worry about suspension more. and i have no idea about twins haha (just to clarify)

I used to work at naults about 9 years ago.. so FI wasnt huge on bikes back then. But I never saw at the time say a 929r pick up much if anything with a power commander and slip on. I added a jardine slip on more for sound than power think my bike makes more than enough street power. I have a gsxr never even thought of having the suspenson done. (Idiot I know) but it handles awesome as is. How much do you guys notice by upgrading the suspension on your street bikes?

Don't know about that....But mine isn't stock either...
in the beginning, went from 114 to 121 HP.
Then from 121 to 127, now from 127 to who cares!
all I know is it goes fast....

It all depends on how you use it, and to get someone to know how to tune it...with the new PCIII for the TLR, you can tune front and rear cyls separately.
I bleed fuel in on decel to smooth out engine braking at closed throttle.

Never put one on a sportbike but I did install one on my Raptor...and my ass dyno thinks it made a HUGE difference. It really woke the thing up and broadened out the powerband. Nothing better than jetting a dirt toy in less than 30 seconds

I also want to add..if the bike isn't set up with the proper squish, etc, all you are gonna do is smooth out the lean spots programmed from the factory to meet emissions, don't expect any more big power gains unless you do intake and exhaust work, along with other little bits and pieces....

Oxx runs one, and we were able to smooth some stuff out for him the way he likes it, where as if he didn't have one he'd be riding it the way he doesn't like it!

I got my bike used with one and an aftermarket pipe, an 05 600RR.

I have tried the zero map (which is stock mapping), the map that was loaded on the bike as sold (a dynojet map for generic Jardine) and a custom map from Seacoast in NH.

After spending the $250 I found the generic Jardine map was best.
Go figure. Seacoast didnt account for the catalytic converter nor the Pair valve I guess. Anyway long story short, I have tried it with zero map and its a world of difference. Much smoother response and alot more zing across the whole rev range with off the shelf map for the Jardine. With the zero map its flat and lacklustre.

It does use more gas now but what do you want economy or performance?
Sometimes on longer trips I load the zero map.

Its Not so much that it adds Power, Its that With a dyno service you can Move the Power a little bit, I had it on my last race bike it worked perfectly for that.(combined with gearing)

    on a street bike?

    I would not bother

I don't have one on my bike either. I'm not against them, but they have to be tuned correctly. You can't just download a map and expect huge gains.

I installed one when I installed my slip on. The slip on deleted the cat so I wanted my a/f ratio to be corrected. I'll never know how effective the map is as far as being too rich or lean till I have it dyno'd. The throttle response now is wicked.
