Figured some of you folks might like to Know,,,
Found out from Tommy, a few days ago, that the track has ordered another 270' of Airfence II and hopes/expects delivery before the first LRRS round.
This now brings our total air fence to 540' and will allow us to redeploy quite a few dog houses to other areas. This is just plain awesome.

Great news!
But personally I think it is messed up that anyone thinks its a success for the track to finally provide this readily available safety equipment. The track should make its environment as safe as possible for its customers and that should come before the customer service even starts. Just my 2 cents.....

Out of my own curiosity, how much is 270' of airfence worth?

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
I've read that other racetracks actually charge separate to rent their airfence to whatever organization is holding an event there. I wouldn't think there's much negative that could be said about this announcement.
It's all a part of your sick Cynthia thing, man. Taking care of her dog. Going to her synagogue. You're living in the past man.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Great news!!! Be careful out there. We don't wanna scuff up their nice stuff.
I'm not renting it shoes, I'm not buying it a beer...

Great news. The stuff in turn 7/8 saved me from big injuries (if not worse) last year. Personally I think it's great the track keeps investing in it. Other tracks don't have it and will not buy it.
Just for the record folks, this is real air fence. The inflatable stuff we haven't seen since AMA days. What we've been using for years are Defender's, Super Defender's, etc.. Basically, covered foam matrix commonly called "dog houses" elsewhere. Scotty crashed into some of the really good ones in his T#8, throw it over the wall crash!
Those systems are ungodly expensive, too. Years ago, one Super Defender over $1,200, Defender $800.+, the white ones about half a Defender. These units are maybe six feet long.
I've never counted how many there are. Just riding or looking the track over, it doesn't dawn on you how many NHMS has deployed. There are hundreds and hundeds of these things. Spent my fair share of time removing and replacing these things between events. They fill about five large flat bed trailers, four and five rows high and, that doesn't count the ones that remain in place.
If you think about the numbers and money involved, you can understand why a lot of tracks won't buy the dog houses or air fence. Tires and low tech options are much cheaper.
What really excites me is, in a perfect world, this allows the redeployment of 70-90 Defender/dog houses.
Another great thing to keep in mind? while other race organizations are going out of business or scaling back, NHMS is making large capital investments even in the face of lower race entries and on track participation across the board. Further, there's talk of more and betterer things to come.
I know it's the off season and everyone loves to bitch and complain. Just take a minute to think and be proud of the fact that your a member of a race organization that's being proactive and strong in the face of a crappy economy, or supporting a track day organization trying to stay in business. Marketing, customer service, operations and track safety are all improving on a continual basis. this is do to YOU. Everyone in this extended and dysfunctional family is the reason we move forward while others are giving up.
Oh, I still hate you all.

you could line every single object out there with Airfence and there will be someone who will complain that we shouldn't need to have to put it out because the object shouldn't be there.
I think its great that they are trying to improve safety for all riders.

Any way I look at it I would rather say hello to a piece of air fence than a wall or tree.
