    Headlights on a race bike

Is there any LRRS rule that would prevent me from keeping headlights on a naked race bike? I'm envisioning a setup with the number plate mounted directly in front of the lights that could be pivoted up and out of the way when not racing. The lights would obviously be disconnected/fuse pulled for racing. I'm not sure if the lenses I've got are glass or plastic, but I would assume plastic.

Unplug it and tape it over and you're legal... :/

Is the headlight glass or plastic? The headlight idea in a track day is ok, but racing? Probably one of the worst ideas I've heard.

The answer appears to be yes ... I confess, I was not aware of this:

    Under Technical Requirements:
19.19 All lenses, reflectors, and any other glass or plastic, with the exception of windscreens, must be taped.

Mentioned again under Production Class Rules:
19.26.1.13 Headlight sealed beam may be taped or removed but the shell and wiring must be in place.
While I don't think its the worst idea, its definitely not a great idea. I just wouldn't want to be that guy who spreads glass on the track.

I'd be worried about being "that guy" that had to call a tow truck to get home. If you're talking about riding the bike to the track and racing. Also don't you need tools and spare tires and crap? If you aren't planning to ride to the track then removing the headlight isn't that big of a deal.

Not trying to ride to the track. It's probably a stupid idea, I should just take the extra 5 minutes to put the headlight back on after the weekend if I want to commute on it. The side stand will be annoying too. Balls

I would pull the headlight lens/bezel if possible, leave the shell, and zip tie a number plate. But you really should just ride it to the races, it made perfect sense to me!

You wouldn't call a tow truck; you'd ask one of the 400 other people there if one would be so kind as to drop you off on their way home. You don't "need" "spare tires" to race.

I'd 86 the side stand for sure. When you start really moving out there it'll be a problem for you.

if he's gonna race he has to take it off, doesn't matter if he's fast or slow.
