HELP. Ducati 1000ds SuperSport Alternator Cover

During track testing yesterday my alternator cover started to leak oil. (No worries the belly pan caught the few drops.) It looks like a repair by the previous owner is failing. Fine line cracks are reopening around the center of the cover where some type of patch was made after a crash two years ago. It looks like some kind of JB weld product. I need your advice:

1. Can this cover be repaired?
2. If not, can you tell me where I can get a new race strength cover? Something a little tougher then the original.
3. Any other option beside the dealer? Replacement cost is a bit over $500. Any thing used or after market?

This is not the clutch cover side. It's the left side of my 2003 Ducati 1000ds Super Sport. As always, your advise is much appreciated,

no specific help, but I know a lot of Ducati air cooled engine stuff is compatible/swapable across a wide range. If you do some reserach and find that the cover from a 2008 1100DS engine will fit let me know, 95% sure I have a spare left side cover in a parts box in the basement.

is the part number the same on 800. some times in searching for parts i found out which models shared the same part number. also ducatitrader.com sometimes has some stuff..

According to Ducati Parts, my 2003 1000ds shares the same Alternator cover with the following bikes. This seems like a rather long list but maybe Ducati was smart using the same piece for a variety of platforms.
