He was with 'em from day one and worked on the crew that built the original 1/3 mile oval. He then went on to be the PA announcer for a few years before going to ABC Radio sports. It is a nice photo, and I now own the right equipment to make such photos myself. My only hesitation in using it is the distraction factor. No, wait...there's also the risk of putting about $5000 worth of photo gear in a place that it could get crunched.
Plus, imagine, if you will, how bad I would feel if a rider smashed into it and got hurt WORSE because he/she hit a chunk of photo gear that prolly shouldn't be in his/her path.
Still, I have to compete with the other photographers up there, so I'll likely give it a try.
P.S - Think about it....he's actually exiting Turn 2 of the M/C course onto what is really Turn 3 of the Nascar oval.
