As odd as it sounds, a loose valve wouldn't cause this. It'd see less lift so you'd have more piston to valve clearance, and slightly less power but would be fine.
A tight valve on the other hand can be trouble, especially on the exhaust side. Being tight the valve doesn't get as much time on the seat to dump heat into the head, runs hotter and is therefore more likely to eventually stick in the guide and get whacked by the piston.
unfortunately we dont know what caused it.
and I am extremely curious. but I trust the guy building this motor and I expect to see over 90hp and more reliability since I will be the only person responsible for maintenance of this motor.
well i know there are about 300 days left ahead but this is becoming a reality and we are in official countdown mode.
I will be booking the house for the stay during the Manx GP within the next few weeks.
I know it is hard for someone to commit to be away from work and family for 2 weeks but if someone wants to go to the Isle during my first time there and be part of our "mission" this is certainly the time to speak up.
Practice starts on August 20th and last race day is September 2nd.
Round trip tickets now start at about $1200.
You can choose to stay at the house we will be renting or make your own plans.
IF you SERIOUS interest about this and need more details to make a decision feel free to contact me.
You know I'm going

Correct this is for Manx GP August 2016
Did you see footage on CBS last night? They were running twins in the rain - holy balls.

for those who dont know search the DVR for "Real Road Racing" that's the series I believe.
Interesting to see how many start but really only a few REAL players week in and week out in all the categories.

Update time:
The Isle of Man government is discussing making a requirement for all newcomers to attend one of the two newcomers orientations offered months before the event in order to get accepted to either the TT or the Manx.
On top of that the event is extremely helpful and totally worth the extra trip to the Isle of Man. During the weekend newcomers get to turn several laps in cars with experienced racers, meet with officials, the people who do tech, introduce themselves to locals, and learn a lot about to percudures and most importantly about safety.
I'm in the very excited position to announce that for 2016 I am the only American who has gotten accepted to the newcomers orientation for March 12-13 and I cannot wait to get to the isle in a few weeks.
A bit of sour part is that my job did not approve my time off (due to lack of it and this being the busiest quarter for the company) so I am actually leaving my corporate job and next week will be my last week there. It's is a blessing in disguise I believe that will force me to really figure out what it is that I want to do. Sucks leaving a good salary and benefits and diving into the unknown but the truth is that's how dedicated I am to this goal. I worked really hard to get ready for this race and I won't let anything but health issues stand in the way.
I also just received my FIM license which will allow me to participate in the race.
Thank you all
The most shocking part is that I am older than you. Wtf.
Also, good luck Sav.

I love you're jumping in the deep end, balls first and putting your dreams up front. Go Savvas !
I don't know you but have been following (in various forums) your quest to race in this event. Tough decision (and Balls) to leave work for your goals but it shows how much you truly want this to happen.. Good Luck to you.. I look forward to hearing all about it as this old guy will be living vicariously though your adventure..

This might be the most inspirational thread on NESR. Most people would not pause for a second to even consider attempting this.
Perseverance.
