    RSVR1000

Would it make a good track day bike? I like the idea of a twin, even if its a big twin. Only major downside I can think of its a lack of easy accessible spares.

I bought a race ready 04 RSV1000R Factory for trackday duty and it's awesome. I might even race it, once I get the quick shifter dialed in and I don't have any issues with it.

Great bikes. Very reliable and plenty of spares out there.

Spares are plentiful but as you say, not easily accessibly (at least trackside) so if you're going to run one, make sure you have the common crash parts on hand just in case. Motors are very reliable so you shouldn't have any issues there. It is a big heavy bike though. Takes a lot of work to muscle it around on tight tracks. It's really best on a bigger faster track like Jersey vs Loudon but it would certainly work fine anywhere as long as you're willing to put in the effort. Get some OZ or similar light weight wheels to help with tip in and transitions and it will do better on the smaller tracks (not to mention be faster overall). 04R's still had the axial calipers of the 1st gen. 05+ and all the factory models came with the later radial brembos (factory's have monoblocks iirc, not to mention the light wheels and ohlins).

Very solid motor. The R version definitely benefits from suspension work. The Factory has pretty good Ohlins. The bikes can be had for a decent price for the slightly older ones.

I'm going to take a look at one probably next week. 08, ex-chaz davies AMA bike. Decent price, in my budget. Its only going to be used on bike wide open tracks. Any smaller tight tracks I still have my RMZ motard for. Seems pretty well set up.

If Chaz raced it... probably pretty safe to say that it's well set-up.

I'm not sure I'd buy an ex ama bike. See the 300 dollar brake pad thread. Too much unobtanium. KISS

Ehh, its been a club raced bike for a while. Brembo brakes, stock motor (still has the ama engine, but it needs a new gasket), replaced the pipes, only thing left is the suspension essentially.
