Anyone ever sew their own patches onto their leathers? Do you need some sort of heavy duty industrial sewing machine or anything? I wanna put some patches on of all the major sponsors Im getting, in other words, some bands I like and stuff just to decorate things, but dont wanna bother paying someone to do a great job. I just need the things to hang on decently but dunno if a household sewing machine can get through the leather.
you would need a heavy duty sewing machine as well as the knowledge to take out any liners/armor in the way - otherwise your moms sewing machine is going to go boom
i know you dont want to pay, but RS Repairs will do it for just $4 per patch without plastic or $8 per patch with plastic plus the standard $35 opening charge - get a dollar bill stitched on with plastic or something
i have also heard of people just gluing it on
hope that helps

You can buy the special needles needed for leather, and you will need a more robust thread.
I have been repairing my own leathers on mom's sewing machine for years with no ill effects. It is a bitch though to work the leather in the small machines!
The tough thing is sewing those metal spikes on the leather collars![]()
