I *really* shouldn't have bought this but just *couldn't* pass up the deal.
That's a Alder slipper clutch for my RMZ, which I got for the silly low price of $499.00 brand new! Booya!
Got it off twowheelsteals.com which has motostrano's backstock and over-inventory and stuff. Which is pretty amusing, because the exact same item is listed on Motostrano.com "On Sale" for $650.00! (retail is $1049.00) ha ha ha. See here Adler Supermoto Slipper Clutch
STM's are going for $900.00 (on sale for 765 STM Suzuki RMZ 450 Slipper Clutch) and Hinson's are 1149 (on sale for 950 Hinson Supermoto Slipper Clutch) so I feel like I got a fucking steal.
Woot!
Fast guys say this is good for a second a lap on the motard and I'm looking forward to running with it. Not sure about a second a lap, but I can easily see where it'd be worth a few tenths easy per lap. You brake so so late on the motard that you are always already tipped into the turn and the enginebraking/downshift upsets the chassis pretty good at that point and messes with your entry speed/smoothness (at least for me). For sure in T1, T6, T9, and T11. Makes the slides into T3 way nicer too (rode JayRoot's CRF w/slipper in June).
Either way, off-season is all about buying chi-chi bullshit. Up next... offset triples! (again apparently worth another second per lap due to reduced chatter). Shit I'm just going to keep buying expensive shit that 'drops a second per lap'. Pretty soon I won't even have to ride the bike, just watch it run 1:15's without me! Sweet!
Oh RichieRich, check these items out for your new RMZ... (which has aftermarket rotor but stock caliper)

Nice! Looks like that bike has stock caliper and master cylinder. If so you could really benefit from some of those deals I posted above. Either stand alone caliper for 150 (sick deal) or the full magura system for 6-bills. Make that bitch stop on a dime.
Even more pumped to try it after hearing this feedback from the Master of Cornerspeed. Good seeing you this past weekend.

Best thing you can buy. I attribute slippers with saving engines in the motards and it makes the downshifts oh so smooth.

Dan, if that caliper takes the same pads as my twinpots on my minis, I can get you some pads from Japan (Daytonas) that'll absolutely floor you with how well they work... EBC doesn't have anything that compares for road racing with that caliper.

Na I dont think the crash had anything to do with this. Im not even sure if its gone. I just know it engages way out on the lever. Ill know for sure what I need when I pull it apart but right now I just think its the nature of the way I ride it and the way the yamaha slipper clutch works.
Thanks for the site. I just ordered a $320 Sargent seat for $99+shipping
It's got the red welt instead of yellow but for less than 1/3 the price I think I can live with it.....or paint the bike because it isn't perfect to begin with![]()

Ill keep my eyes opened. Im not exactly sure what I can do to the bike as the rules go for the clutch. Ill have to look it up. Kates thinks I have to keep the stock basket but I can do the plates. In a quick look I didnt see anything about not being able to change the basket so maybe a better clutch in the future
As for motards. Well I dont know if Zack is going to race next year. If he decides to not race I may pick up a trick KTMHis bike is just bad fast
I was thinking of getting that Braking front caliper for 150 and I don't even have an F'ing bike yet

Nice dude! I just realized I forgot to bring my camera in order to take high resolution photos of it after we put it in my garage... damnit!
Thing's fuggin' sweet though.
I think you should be able to do the "more slip" mod by pulling out one of the springs and not be illegal....?
And yes replacing the plates should be legal as well since that is just maintenance I think...?
Not sure though.
