Anyone racing an Aprilia shiver in the LW class?
Book says twin, liquid cooled, non-desmo, up to 800cc. . .
Seems like it would give the sv650s a run for their money. Anyone racing one? Can it hold up to racing?
I haven't seen one.

you wanna race it or just do track days? track days I'd say go for it, why not.

Someone's gotta try it, why not you? Zack tried racing a hyper in lw...it kinda worked....until it didn't.

Well basically I'm looking at buying a new bike that will eventually be a track only bike to fit in the LW class. Some bikes I was looking at were the shiver and sv650/gladius.
what are the most competitive bikes in the LW class?

Sv is by far the most popular.1 or 2 guys run the kawi 650 (1 pretty successfully), also a properly built duc can help get you up front.

ktm 690 duke is another unusual bike that could be a ton of fun. it's a big old single so it fits into almost any class.

690 is new. The older one was a 620 I think, but always wondered how it would do in motard or either one in super singles.

Ya, duke was a 600 or 620 I think. Duke 2 was like a 640 and the newest is a 690. I really like the new one.

Thanks for the input. Just trying to look outside the box than the typical bikes in the class but I agree that It might prove to be costly/difficult.
Not that I have anything against motards but I'd like to stay away from them.
Outside of LRRS there are a few other LW machines showing up. BMW's 800cc baby twin apparently works well. The Hyosung GT650 has been made todo the deed enough that there are guides for setting one up... dunno if I'm quite brave enough to try it though.
Not that many LW legal machines in most current company lineups it seems... Hard to find an air cooled anything outside of cruisers and Ducs.
Oh, one last option, the latest Duc Monsters. Penguin / the Woods are dialing them in.
Monster is def an option. Any disp monster would be considered LW? Twin air cooled up to 1210cc correct?
No, because they're desmo valve trains. 1200 is for pushrod.
The duke 2 is a little bigger than the 620/640 smc.

I'm officially confused. Lol.
I might be talkin' from my arse. Somebody will correct me if I'm an idiot. I think 800 is the cutoff for ducs in lw.

For LWSS and LWSB the cap is 1210cc air cooled twins. No distinctions for pushrod vs OHC vs desmo.
So like an xb12 is LW? That is crazy. . .
But an xb also uses technology from the '40's
