Hey,
Looking to get a set of spool mounts welded onto my bike, but not real sure where to actually get the mounts?
Does anyone have urls/business to get them from?
Thanks!

he rewelded mine as I have a habit of snapping them off in crashes (=
when I picked my bike up the last time though, he said his welder cut out on him near the end and gave this sound advice:
"it'll hold the weight of your bike and then some, but I wouldn't go fucking a fat chick on there or anything"

Lurking, reading and thinking. I've asked a bunch of people about this and gotten some unsolicited (but appreciated) PM's as well, and the consensus seems to be that my best bet is a pad type stand.
Edit: One noteworth exception was a guy I don't know but think I've heard about, BJ. He told me that "a bunch of them" have the insert that you put in the swingarm after drilling it out, and that they were fine. Based on that, even if I were to add spools to the EX, which I probably won't, I'd probably just drill the swingarm and use the inserts, since I have the tools/ability to do that and don't have the tools/ability to weld. If I can do it myself why have someone else do it, etc.

BJ huh? sounds fishy. wonder if that guy knows anything about racing an EX.

From what I hear he's the EX guy, EX mafia leader, etc. Of course, you already know that. That's what makes him a "noteworthy" exception, rather than just an exception. What I'm wondering now is if he's on this forum and reading this. I wondered if you were him for a minute, but your profile doesn't list an EX.
lol. i don't think BJ comes on here at all, but yes, he is a noteworthy exception when it comes to racing an EX.

Yeah, it made me consider doing the insert thing and getting spool stands, but if I have to buy new stands anyway I figure why not just get stands that'll work with what I've got? Enough people appear to use them and be happy with them.
Of course BJ issued that answer too.. so that you have a bike that can just go on any old stand when you're in a filled garage and in a hurry. I figure I have a while to go before that point. Of course, when I do get to that point I'll need a new stand and the spools anyway. Damnit, I guess I'm still undecided. This is why I still don't have a stand.
And there it is, right from "a wealth of racing and relationship advise". In the few weeks I've had my EX (a long time, I know) my workbench has done a bang-up job of holding it upright. I have nothing to suggest that any old wall would do a lesser job. Pad stand. Done. I was leaning that way anyway, but the words of the notorious BJ were sticking in my head a bit. Dolla bill to come through and put a stamp on the issue... nice.
You can get combo stands too... spool or pad, your pleasure is a quick rotation of the attachments away.
no worries. it's to be expected.

I have a Pitbull stand that is currently set up for pads, you can buy the spool attachments for it. I'll sell it to you....... Just don't let Daytona440 know! matter of fact, if you are interested in a silver Trailblazer, I have one of those for sale as well.![]()
