Opinions on this subject are like assholes...

Just do what you think you'll enjoy, and have fun. That's my plan.

Pfft. Any fool can wheelie a 600 over a hill, try doing this on a 50 HP bike!

Seriously thou there are like 12 posts on this topic. Do some searching around. I recommend EX, SV, or Motard.

Re: Thinking about racing next year

At first, my recommendation was going to be "not while you're in college" but when I think about it, I found ways to waste money while in school, so you may be able to seing it. With that said, go JAP motard (or EX) for low running costs... They are fun (or gay), a motard will be at least double the price to get on, but running costs are low for both bikes.

if mommy and daddy are funding, skip over the sv and get a 600.

Maybe ill try to convince the parents by saying "Im going to state school just look at how much money Im saving you compared to out of state, sooooo you can just buy me a new bike". Bet that will work real good haha

Re: Thinking about racing next year

I spend less than $200 on the average race weekend including gas, food, entry fees, etc.

I'm still into my bike under $1200.

EX's are wonderful ways to get and stay in racing for cheap. I don't have the funds to get ahead in life AND race a 600, so I race an EX. The racing is often closer than any other classes due to how close the machines are.

Everything you learn on the EX greatly improves your riding. Think of the EX as a "bike weakness amplifier". Anything that normally is a small issue on any other bike is a HUGE issue when trying to ride an EX fast. It's more fun that way.

    Hey Denno,

When have you gone out and done a few hot laps on an EX?

Last I checked, most of us EX guys had wives/girlfriends.

    Bella doesn't count.

if denno wanted just one, he'd ride an EX too...

with a 600, you have way too many throwing vaginas at you to settle down.

    wheelie on denno!

Yah? You just said "hot laps" when referring to an EX

Wive/g/f?!? are you kidding me, when you're on a middlewight bike hot chicks are lining up outside your garage

FYI - Bella has less fur than any EX g/f or wife and she's cuter

Don't be a zero new guy - racing is all about the pussy... Can't get none with a lousy EX
