You guys keep forgetting this is FOR REGIONAL EXPERTS. This is going to be far different than lining up for the Daytona Sportbike grid. (meaning, it won't be nearly as hard to qualify).

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Have they announced what the qualifying cutoff will be?
Using Loudon as an example...
Polesitter at 1:13...
120% = 1:27.6
110% = 1:20.3
105% = 1:16.65

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
good example but the fastest club 600 is 1:10.9
If AMA where to come back (which they are not) I would expect that time to be in the Mid 10's.
Edit: that was before the T1 reconfig... last year after the t1 redo I think the fastest time was 11.4 on a 600. Still would expect mid to high 10's

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Not this year. Would love to take a stab at it next year tho.

107% for ASB (was 108% last year)
110% for DSB and SS, which is ridiculous.
I'm going to list the 2009 SS Qualifying time then what the 110% cutoff would be:
Fontana
1:31 / 1:40
Atlanta
1:32 / 1:41
Laguna
1:30 / 1:39 (this means I almost qualified on a bone-stock 848 during the 1 time I rode Laguna at a trackday, I did a 1:40)
Okay I think that proves my point.... at Loudon a 1:11 Q time in Supersport would mean you qualify with a 1:18...
Yea... so like I said, who's doing AMA Supersport next year. hehe.

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Scott, was more posting the %'s for effect or example in NHMS terms we can understand...
Either way, 110%'s pretty generous and should make for lots of entries!

Got a Q time for Thunderbolt? Gotta figure out if I need to start begging Arcy to ride his R6 :D
Then again, depening on how my LRRS season starts off, maybe I don't wanna skip a LRRS weekend.

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
If you can run a sub-2:00 laptime you should be okay.
-
Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
:spit: Well that's not saying much.... most people here could do that on a Rukus with a flat tire.
Guess I'm in! :D (maybe)
Any team endurance races announced yet? I haven't heard anything. :sad2:

Yea Josh Day qualified SS with a 1:48, but he was 2 seconds ahead of the P2 guy Garrett Carter who Q'ed with a 1:50. 1:50 = 2:01 qualifying time.

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Wait, what? At Thunderbolt NJMP? That's not right, I did a 1:36.6 there on the SV last year.

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Found this: http://www.amaproracing.com/rr/news/index.cfm?cid=23685
"Debuting 16-year-old rider P.J. Jacobsen (No. 54 Celtic Racing/Orient Express Honda CBR600RR) won the pole in qualifying Saturday morning for Sunday's AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei final. Jacobsen turned a top lap of 1:24.391"
110% of that is a 1:32.830... I bet I could pull that off.

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
LRRS'er Rick Breen raced Supersport at Daytona.
Race 1 - 10th overall and 2nd in Top Gun
Race 2 - 11th overall and 3rd in Top Gun
I watched the races and while the front running SS kids are all gonzo there is zero reason for any LRRS Expert 600 rider not to give this a try. Looked like a ball!!

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Rob you running any of the Sportster races?
-
Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
I'm working on it!
The rules package kinda screws me up though. I basically have to throw out all the work/parts I've put into the bike to run the Vance and Hines kit.
Also, I can't do the whole series on my own dime so I have to try and get some sponsors. But I'm 99% sure I'll be in for VIR and NJMP!

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?

Hell ya!
I'd love to find a 600 to race for either VIR or NJ. Dammit!

Dont have a bike, if I write a nice letter will I get sponsored? :naughty
-
Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
:sad2:
If I can find some $ and a 600, I still would... but I can't find $ and a 600.
I could probably make it work if I tried hard enough, but I dunno if it's doable right now.

I heard there is a paint store in MA looking to start a pro team.

Re: So, who's racing AMA this year?
Doing an AMA round in the big show great for expirence building for the up and coming riders. The Supersport/Top Gun is a good platform.
I think Tyler Sweeney is planning on doing AMA Supersport @ NJMP.

Wanna sponsor a half decent lightweight Expert?
(Hey, the guy spent like an hour looking for a clip-on in his trailer to give to me before he even really knew me, it's worth a shot :D)
