Ok well i just got my first bike 2 months ago.

I'm a mechanic but cars are very different animals then bikes. I'm packing the miles on pretty quick and already have 5500.

There's no way I'm paying a dealer to do all my services so i was just wondering what are the real crucial things to maintain. i have a pretty good idea but don't what to miss anything. I had the dealer do the first service just to cover my ass on the warranty but now I just did my first oil change on it.

I did the Oil and filter, cleaned and lubed the chain, and lubed the cables is there anything I'm missing?

You could take a look at the air box and make sure you don't have a bug collection starting on the air filter.

in the owners manual there is a list of things to be done, most every 4000 or 8000 miles
