So Pit Bull stands are good then? www.af1racing.com (sellers of Aprilia stuff) have them for around $140, that doesn't seem too bad. I hadn't heard of Pit Bull up until reading this thread...

These are on my "xmas for me" list, lots of really good feedback from ppl on svrider who bought them:

$135 includes shipping for front and rear stand
When I get them I'll post a report...
I am using a buddy's rear stand, it is setup for pad (non spool).Quote:

Every time I lift the bike it feels like a bit of a gamble, it gets the job done and is easier than my rear stand (2 jack stands a couple of cap screws)
The Thruster stands do a good job for the money you pay.
Make sure you tell him that you have a SV when you order.
The front stand has to be different than his normal ones as the front forks of the SV are unequal in length due to the pinch bolt.
No regrets buying them.
I use a milkcrate
LP, get the head stand, you can do work to the forks.
Riders with pit bulls have asked to borrow my LP. They use a lever and fulcrum; two piece pain in the ass.
Handy is flimsy and only has the fork stand.
Find a racer and ask them to order you a front head stand; ~ 75 shipped.
Cametoehunter on gixxer.com made a great one, I could never get him to sell me one though, too busy to do business I guess.
I don't know about Woodcraft stands, but their other products are fantastic; heavy duty; designed and used by racers.
I just bought a set of DMP S-PEC stands for $120. shipped
i'll let you know how they are when they arrive (soon)
I agree, the front stand is basically useless.Quote:

Unstable and there is not much you can do with one.
I will be turning mine into another rear stand if I can
get some steel stock and access to a welder.
The stem stand or tree stand is much more useful.
With my new EazyRizer, I don't even need that anymore.
It is a bit more money but what I can do is unbeliveable.

I have these...good quality for the price.
Their forklift sucks...the headstock lift is nice. I can't see why anyone...correction, a racer, wouldn't want a more versatile stand. Go with a headstock lift.Quote:

I have a set of HANDY + a set of LP --- they both SUCK compared to these!

actually in all seriousness--when I was in high school, I applied to Havard + Yale AND I WAS ACCEPTED TO BOTH!!!!! no shit-really, but I had no intention of going to either--not my type of life!
I did go to a 2yr college though + graduated 1st in my class! didn't like what I was doing so I went back to school-- + yes I was 3 weeks from graduating 1st in my class AGAIN when I had a little altercation with a dickhead professor + I was tossed.
the point is I have no need to use big college edumacated words or talk down to people just because I CAN if I want!
I only trust pitbull and woodcraft.
My LP paddle seemed to flex and slide, every fork stand i've seen is crap.
well when you're rich like you that is fine!! BUT since this thread is about AFFORDABLE front stands---some of us have to look elsewhere?Quote:
