Battery charge?

Hey all,

Just wanted to know how much charge an average battery has? I just ask because mine just died while I was doing some routine cleaning and maintenance on the bike. I did start it a few times, about 3-4times in succession, and I also had the headlights on for about 30 minutes. All of this without really running the motor, and the battery is now drained.

I had just come from a fairly long ride, so battery should have been charged when this all started. Is this fairly normal or is my battery at the end of it's life?

That would be completely normal for a motorcycle battery. Leaving the headlights on for 30 minutes alone was probably enough to do it, but 3 or 4 starts would definitely put it over the edge. Length of the ride wouldn't matter as that would probably drain a fresh battery enough to not start the bike.
