BTW: I need to correct myself regarding factory specs. What I meant to say is, Honda suggest that the standard stock set up on a honda should have freeplay in the clutch lever thats between 10 & 20mm (3/8 -13/16 inches). Personal preference is a different story. Sorry for the false info with regard to the 5mm prank :twofinger :twofinger :poke:
If you want to be real sure, lean your bike over on its side, pull off the clutch cover, and run a vernier caliper on the clutch plates. Your manual should give you the service limits. Not a bad way to see how far down the road you'll get before you need a new clutch.
Update:
I put a new clutch cable on the bike last night and it seemed to be a little better, but I'm still at the end of the lever before it grabs.
I still think I'll be changing the clutch sometime next season.
