Battery dead so I bought a new one. Wont stay charged. What causes the battery to drain on a bike? Ordered a manual but want to ride today!!! Hoping someone can give me a clue on what to check out
What kinda bike? Will it not stay running? It could be the stator or regulator/rectifier not charging the battery. If it just won't hold a charge while sitting there, any accessories added to the bike like alarm or anything?
IM guessing a HD![]()

Stator or regulator rectifier failure.
Or bad battery that was a factory activated and not maintained or incorrectly initial charged battery.
Bring it to our shop today and I can test it for free.
Unless of course you are a 1 post ROBOT!!! Then you can just take a long walk off a short bridge.
If it's an HD.. what model? Have you gone and installed anything new like, LED's???
If you are not good with testing electrical systems, it can be very difficult to tell why the battery is being drained. A wire could be grounding out, a gauge could be faulty and shorting, bad switch somewhere, accessory (lights, alarm) issue. My voltage regulator (or regulator/rectifier) went bad and that caused my problem. Bring it to a shop. It may cost you some $$ to diagnose, but at $80 bucks for a battery, it may be cheaper and much quicker/easier to have them find it for you the first time.
before you bring it anywhere, make sure you tightened the battery terminals all the way down.
That killed a couple of batteries on my first bike.
AAAANNNndnddddd....... She's a robot. What a waste.
The problem is it's a Harley...
