    Electrical Issue

For the last month of riding last year and continued into this season I've had a weird gremlin where my headlights would turn off and the blinkers would turn on. Riding for a while and it would go back to normal. I went looking for it today by giggling wires and found it up front behind the speedo. So I have it kinda narrowed down but I noticed the black wire is hot and the connector is burned around that pin. The connector stays hot even when everything is working normally. When I say hot I mean burn you hot and around the connecter pin is brown/black charred. So I don't know if the hot wire is back feeding the system or the blinkers and headlight are crossing. I don't really feel confident in my electrical skills to leave it on to figure it out due to the heat. Any electrical gurus wanna fix this for what ever you charge?

    Re: Electrical Issue

Luckily I ran into Mark(TLRman) in Newburyport and he said it's fairly common that the connector in question burns out cause it can't handle the amps. I'm gonna jump it out and make sure it's all good.

    Re: Electrical Issue

tlzone.net is a good place to look for information on this problem. All the TLs had similar issues and I can only assume that the same mods that fix it on the TL would likely fix it on the SV.

    Re: Electrical Issue

After looking at the fix my burnt connector is different than the one that people have a problem with. Hmmmm...

    Re: Electrical Issue

Lots of amps plus too much resistance = heat. Which can result in increased resistance, leading to more heat, etc.

The first thing to do here would be to clean the connector thoroughly and reassemble with some dielectric grease.

    Re: Electrical Issue

Solved. Jumped the connector and no more heat. Kinda relieved that the shirt was just in the connector.
