    seat shaving/upholsterer?

I'm interested in lowering my seat by about 1" to make it easier for me to reach the ground with both feet. Anybody know of a professional place around the Boston area that can do it? I saw online instructions on how to do it, but I don't exactly want to take a chance....Thanks!

It really is something you can DIY. Use an electric knife when you do it, works great!

I actually just put a gel kit in my seat. It is awesome!!
This would be my suggestion for a nice tidy job.
Either a electric knife or a really sharp long bread knife.
Mark both sides with a marker to ensure you are level.
once you have the majority of the material off use a die grinder with a 3m rolock sand disc to smooth and shape it.
reinstall your cover and use a air stapler try to equal out your tension as you go.
In the pic one is the oem the other is my new gel modified..

this is definitely worth checking out: Sargent Cycle
there should be more info on his page.

you can easily ship in your seat to sarg and i know he'll do an awesome job. surely beats driving anywhere with gas these days. my friend rob from the other site highly recommends him. you can send in your stock. i refused to lower my bike so i bought a $5 spare seat (with intentions to shave down myself). it worked-ish... but even after i attacked the shit out of it he would be able to fine tune it to make it look like like the seat came that way.

As I was told it is better to take the foam off the seat and shave it from the bottom where the foam meets the seatpan, that way you dont have to shape it. just glue it back to the pan
