I bought an 03 Honda spirit 750 over a month ago. The owner said it was sat in the garage for nearly 2 years. It started right up, run with no problem. I can still ride it where ever I want it the only think wrong with it Is on the 1st gear if I go hard with it, it go up to 35mph and starting to popping it doesn't go up more. The same with the 2nd gear can go up to near 50, all the gears after that is fine.i did changed the k&n air filter, new spark plug. Didnt help.i'm currently running it with sea foam. Someone said it does take more than 1 tank to make it work. Any help?? Thanks
Sounds like you got some major junk in the carbs. Did you put the K&N in, or did it come with it?
50mph in 2nd gear is really revving that Spirit engine. You sure you're not bouncing off the factory rev limiter?
I don't alway do that, just did that to see that the problem still happen at the 2nd gear.
Could be lean now with the added K&N filter. Those bikes are usually very lean to start with. Is the old air filter you took out still any good (no holes)? Maybe you can do a quick swap and then try riding it again.
And keep in mind, those bikes don't rev like sportbikes.
