faint white smoke?

    faint white smoke?

    is it condensation?

1/10 times that I start my 1995 FZR600 cold, it farts out a very faint white smoke that's consistent with increasing engine speed. It's so faint, that it disappears into the air, ~1-2" out of the exhaust

I can't repeat a pattern of when it happens, I changed the oil hoping that it was some sort of detergent in the cases, and sometimes I can make it go away by gently blipping the throttle...then the smoke ceases to fart out of the exhaust immediately, and it idles a liiiiiittle bit smoother.

is it condensation, that just gets burned/kicked out when I blip it?

    could it be a valve?

the bike never used to do this until a few months ago. It has 28k miles on the clock, and I've seen the low oil pressure light come on twice under my ownership...so I'm afraid the rings or valves or something is leaking something in there

White that disappears that quick is most likely condensation. Only other thing that really burns white is coolant. And it would linger a bit. Valve seals and the such would usually show as blue/gray smoke. But without seeing it i can't tell u 100%

does it go away once the engine is warm in ambient temps above freezing

if so, its just condensation and or normal combustion, been humid the past few days

when you see it below freezing, it's just a by product of normal combustion

It's a 1995 bike and you're up posting on forums at 4:15 AM.
Be happy the smoke goes away and take a sleeping pill.

it does go away once the engine is warm, in ambient temps above freezing...so I'm hoping it's just condensation

it is a 1995 bike, but it's my sole means of transportation and I'm still saving my student pennies to buy a cage

btw, Ted, I'm posting from CA! and the running condition of this bike is important, because it determines if there's a spare bike for you to ride the canyons out here
