Catching up after doing 2 more days at the track. I felt much better this round, having a new garage to hang in. Thanks to Tony, Pete, Christian, and the absent Gino.
I was also in a much better place emotionally and shook off the demons from round 3. I only ran 2 races on Saturday for the weekend.
Short version: My starts suck!
Longer version:
Race #2 - LWSB
Gridded 6B (second row for the ams)
stalled the start and managed to pick off 6 riders by the end, finishing 7th of 13 with a best lap of 1:24.212 and most laps in the 24's.
Race #6 - LWGP
Gridded 6B (front row for the amateurs)
Got a much better start, 5th into T1, but a red flag caused us to regrid after 1 lap. Restart I was 6th into T1 and had a difficult time getting around Brett Larson on his first amateur weekend. When I did, Keith, Kurtz, and Pang were about 15 bike lengths ahead of me with 4 laps to go. I put my head down and was making up ground. I was within 1.5 seconds of Keith on the front straight coming into lap 8, but just my luck expert Rick Doucette lapped me just at the line for his win and I had to stop. Had I been able to run the last lap, I might have been able to track Keith down. I finished 5th of 13 with a best lap of 1:23.541 and most laps in the 23's.
So, I'm back on track, raced with a smile on my face and am happy with my results. But my starts still suck and need a LOT of work.
