In light of events this weekend, we thought it was secondary to post results, and we all have Morgan's family and friends in our thoughts and prayers. RIP MR #624
Middleweight Superbike (Saturday 4)
Had the chance of Chasing Justin down as my carrot this race. I knew we were moving the fastest we had on the R6's because we were right behind Rick Breen who runs in the 14's and 15's. We were hanging with the top 5 the entire race, but lapped traffic was causing some issues starting in lap 4. Coming into T1 after seeing the white flag, the lappers finally worked to my advantage. Justin and Dave Fett 61 got caught up and blew into nascar 1 with some yellow plates. I was a bit stunned but put my head down and went. Justin ran nascar 1 and was gaining quick down the back straight. He came into the bowl much faster and ran a wide line... We both ended up on intersecting lines near the apex, and as I tried to tighten my line, either my peg caught or I ran out of front tire... Down we went. Big mix up of parts, but we both walked away and were able to continue racing... BIG THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED GET THE BIKES TOGETHER AND LOANED SOME PARTS!
Magician - big help always, Slowpoke - thanks, that windscreen came in handy sunday!

Heavyweight Superbike (Sunday 9)
Jumped out about mid pack of the small field, Cronin floated by... I just hung out chasing Carter the entire race. Neal Garvin was in front of carter, gapping us but I couldn't make my way around him. I know by checking times, that Carter sometimes slows pace as the race (or weekend) goes on, but he keeps looking back at me (damn, he knows im there). I decided I would make my move in T2... on Lap 7, I set up for it, and drive hard up his inside. He managed to pinch me off by coming across my line into braking zone for 3. On the last lap, I set up for it again... this time I set up a little closer and get on the gas a touch earlier... I pull a couple bikes on him, and come into 3 hot. I hold him off for 5th place, and gapped him by 1.8 seconds by the finish line.

Hey, where's the part about you chucking parts (a frame slider) at me in T4 as I was catching and getting ready to pass you during second practice on Sunday?!?!![]()

15.8... Jebus fast guy! Way to get it done!
Glad you guys were OK. Now keep those times but start finishing the races![]()
Yep.. nicely done guys! Definately looked good out there. More 15's next weekend are in order!
The best advice I’ve ever been given is to not forget where you came from.
Nice write-up Kitt.
For everyone’s reference; Most of us race in the same races, making it difficult to keep tabs on one another. This makes it difficult to write a race report. That being the case I thought I’d write a bit about my weekend.
Saturday
I skipped morning practice like everyone else. To-date, I haven’t made an 8:00 session yet this year and I’m sure many people appreciate that since my bike can be a bit obnoxious at times :-)
Race 4 (MWSB)
Went out on tires from the weekend prior. Was a bit concerned about it, but made the last minute decision to just use them. Got to meet John from RSP on the grid. I got a pretty bismal start and was lucky to come into Turn 1 in second. I made an early move on 535 in Turn 2 to put myself up front. From there I just put my head down and ran my race. I managed to run some 1:17’s and felt comfortable. Too comfortable.
Race 13 (MWGP)
Again I get a bismal start (quite the contrary from the weekend prior). I found myself near the front. I catch an RSP bike early on and play follow-the-leader until Turn 12. We drag race down the home stretch where I out brake him going into 1. I throw some hard laps down to try and gap the field, which worked for about 3-4 laps. Somewhere near the middle I looked back coming down the home stretch and to no surprise I see 242 about four bike lengths back; “here we go”. I hit turn 1 HARD and the front of the bike shoots in the air with a violent tank slapper. I barely manage to keep it on track and maintain the lead, but of course I now know 242 is on my ass. I hang onto the lead until the last lap. I brake hard going into Turn 3 and the front end just bottoms out. I watch Ross squeeze by me and think to myself “son of a bitch”. We run in parallel for the remainder of the lap and I finish 2nd. Kudos to Ross for exploiting my front end problems.
Sunday
I didn’t think much about the front end problems from Saturday and just turned some laps in the first practice session. Come in to look at times and I’m not even on the grid. Dead transponder. Get that fixed and relax. During the break, I start talking to my make-shift coach (Christian Cronin) and he gives me few pointers. I head out for the 2nd practice session and attempt to utilize Cronin’s advice and realize my front end is just all screwed up. I get Martire to look at the bike… tell him I’m working with Cronin. He looks at me, looks at Cronin, looks at my bike and says… “Ha… your stuck with it. I need to get the forks in the shop to fix this one”. Great.
Race 4 (MWSS)
Basically and identical race as the dash from the day prior. Get up front somewhere in the first lap. Lead for the entire race and watch Ross pass me in Turn 3 again. I laugh at myself in my helmet thinking… my front end is week here and this guy knows it. Such is life. Again Ross made a clean pass for the win.
Race 9 (HWSB)
My first weekend running this race. Get on the grid and start looking around. There was (1) other 600cc bike on the grid and the rest are real HW bikes. “Great”. I get an ok start and come out with a holeshot. Come Turn 2, Jesus on his GSXR750 just motors by me. Red flags come out and in we go. On the restart, my bike feels like the clutch slipped on the line and I come out in 5th. Time to go to work. Ducati 999 tucks the front in Turn 1. I drive around him and some people in front of me and find myself in third behind another Ducati. I follow him for one lap and realize he’s holding me up. I take some advice from Christian and scream up the inside of this guy going into the bowl. Sure as shit, the bike holds and I’m off. I try like hell to catch Jesus, but it was too late. I finish 2nd and managed to dip into the 1:16’s :-)
What’s in store for next race weekend?
- Front end corrections
- A clean clutch
… and hopefully… 1:15’s.
Seneca, good shit out there man. I tried to hang with you and 242 for a bit out there but you guys managed to walk away each time leaving me ass in 2nd or 3rd lol. And wtf, if you hit 15s im pushing your bike over lol
