Losail, Qatar
Having never been to this track I got there early and did some laps, never really getting comfortable, I was only thankful that I had been in the region before and and didn't take me long to get used to the heat. Maybe I would have something on the competition.
As night fell the other riders started to arrive, it cooled off quite a bit so the heat was never a factor. After some initial confusion as to what race I was in and where I was gridded it finally got all sorted out. I hopped on the 125 and got to the grid. I was in 2D right next to Larnz with Kurlon in front of me, maybe I can get by him on the start?
Flag drops and we are off. I get the HOLE SHOT but get bumped as I tip it into 1 and crash along with 3 other fellas, I am ok and the bike is ok so I get back on and off I go. Had a good battle with Kurlon for a bit but ended up leaving him. Also battled with Seth and Duncan moto until they left me in the dust. Settled in and took 7th. The rear tire was sliding all over and i was too hard on the throttle trying to catch up, every corner I was worried about high siding and I would continually spin up the rear. I need more time on the lil 125 KTM. My head was kinda foggy from the crash and I ended up dumping it a few more times. Oh well.
Race 2 800cc.
Wow! Just Wow! Going from the 125 to this beast was CRAZY! Who thought of this?
Warm up went well and I was feeling good. Gridded in 3a this time next to Seth, He looks over and gives a grin just as the flag drops. We are flying into 1 and like 3 guys go off the track in front of me but I get through clean. I am sticking with the leaders until someone hits me going into to 1st sharp left hander and punts me off the track. GOD DAMN IT! Now I am playing catch up. Seth and Duncan Moto get by and I stick with them for a bit, actually get by them both going into 1 on the 3rd lap but very soon Seth Goes by and then Duncan. Damn! Now I just need to stay in front of Kurlon! Another crash has Kurlon get by me and I just can't catch him, I start pushing to hard and lose the front going into the long carosel. I an dejected and get lapped by the front 3 guys and go down 2 laps! Finish dead last!
I hope to do better next week in Japan. I need to catch my flight and get some practice in. Stoner promised he would show me the fast line. Wish me luck.
