Had a good battle going with a couple other guys. A few laps from the end I was leading them then botched my braking/downshift into T3 and the rear was hopping all over the place over the bumps and I think it locked up cause the engine wasn't liking what was going on so I pulled the clutch in and was forced to run it wide letting the other 2 through. Couldn't get them back and we finished right behind each other at the end. Fun race though.

Freddy gave me some advice, basically said stop being a bitch and just take the pass when you know you're faster. I still have a problem with this because I know its not a track day but I'm still just trying to be extra nice with my passes. A couple laps behind Leo who I have had trouble getting around before but then gap once I do get by and I finally said screw it and tried the outside pass in 11, hell of a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be. Turns out Leo was doing 1-2 seconds faster than he normally does so it was nice that the pass felt pretty easy. Later in the pits Scott Greenwood gives me some pointers on T4 cause he passed me there and saw I didn't have it right.
Sunday.
practice: finally try a practice start with new advice from Freddy. ok that helped but still need work.
work on T4 and its much nicer now, that was always my worst corner and it was cause I wasn't doing it right.

Little wheelie on the start and cut the throttle, idiot that's not what you're supposed to do. still a good start and I'm right with the pack into 1. Got into a battle with Kevin Frost again just like the previous weekend and of course didn't remember that he's in the GTO so I didn't have to get by him. I finally got by him about 17 or 18 minutes in and put my head down. dead tired I just prayed for the white flag and tried to relax and not give Kevin any place to pass. actually put a gap on him and last lap set my new personal best 1:19.829. Super excited when I saw that because getting under 1:20 was a goal of mine going into this season.

off the line another wheelie and chop the throttle, hey dumbass I thought I said after the first time to do it right. still go into 1 midpack and do a 1:26.7 for my best lap 1 ever. Currently 7th behind Roger Ealy Jr who I have had some good battles with and Leo in front of him with Kevin right behind me. I knew I couldn't get both at once and we were too close with everyone taking different lines trying to get around each other. I'm sitting there saying to myself "just pass him, I know we're all faster" Then on lap 3 Roger makes his move on Leo and I follow shortly after, then pick off Roger before the end of the lap. Put my head down and I'm still thinking Roger is right there so I spend the last 2 laps running defensive lines but turns out I had put a big gap on him in the couple laps after I passed him.

Congrats Brett.
thanks.
you know that dark pavement way over in the left corner by the second transition as it starts uphill? you wanna be over there. gives you a nice straight shot up through 4 so you can go faster and start your drive earlier. This is probably what got me the 19. big thanks to Greenwood for that tip.
I don't know what you're talking about, that says 6
I'd very much like to set a new best next time, temps will play a big part in that and rear tire situation also. I have 4 track days between now and then and 2 GPA rears that I'm not sure how long they will last. if they don't make it through I'll run the Ntec and probably have to get a new rear for the last weekend.
I didn't know you crashed last weekend. hope everything is alright and you can get the bike back together quickly.

I'll be all set for Oct. Not quite as 'pretty' but raring to go. Was working on it today, taking it apart, cleaning, straightening.
The remains of the upper fairing
When I told Richie that I f'd up his pretty paint job, he said he could probably fix the fairing. Ha, ha NOT, not enough left!!
Great job brett

Great work Brett. Sounds like there is no reason for you to finish in the podium consistently...specially when you sort out your start line launches.
You're the real deal Brett... Congrats on the 19's!! but you'll be faster than that soon. Good job!

I'm really getting tired of reading all these race reports and seeing all of your times drop every round ya fuckers. Maybe next year![]()

Really picking up some speed out there, Brett.
Keep up the good work!!
yeah looking at lap times for people in my races I'd be right in the mix for getting near 3rd I think but the starts are holding me back. I end up being a couple seconds back of that podium fight because I have to make my way around a few people on the first lap. I worked on it this weekend and I'm getting better at the launch. I plan on practicing them more at the BoMo days next week.
it was after reading race reports from friends on another forum for a couple years and finally going up to watch for the first time last October that really tipped the scales for me. once I saw racing in person I knew I wanted to do it. I've loved every minute of it since.
You'll do well in novice and will pick up time quickly if its what you wand and you work at it.

I'll fucking be there come hell or high water. remains to be seen whether I'll be riding or just spectating. I think it'll come down to whether I'm back to work or not. If I'm not working its probably a bad idea to go race. If I'm well enough to do 1 I'm well enough to do the other. So its a wait and see game for now.
