Re: Ripper Racing rnd 4 560am
Bummer about the motor Chip, hopefully it's something you can fix and finish the season.
Re: Ripper Racing rnd 4 560am
Spun right side main bearing. 25% loss of the edge of the rollers, took the piston too. 9.5 hrs on the rebuild. Cliffs is coming through bigtime on this, saying it should've lasted longer, so I'm currently exploring converting the right side to a ball bearing, just like the left in those motors.
Re: Ripper Racing rnd 4 560am
I'd say go to preloaded angular contact bearings with the oil delivery mod as discussed over at Thumpertalk. So far it seems to have 'cured' the bearing issue when motarding RFS motors.

You got a link Josh? My google fingers are getting tired...

So I can shoot the crank through the bottom of the motor?

At least that motor lasted more than 9 hours.

That motor didn't even last an hour. And weren't you having all kinds of trouble with your CRF this season too?
If that fix takes care of the crank issues, you've got yourself a very reliable 60+ hp bike there, Chipper. Good luck with it.

The head just needed to be rebuilt on mine. Now she runs like a kitten. And he had more than an hour on the crank...which is all that matters. Haha.

I had 2.5 seasons on my 560 before it ate a crank bearing. 4 full seasons on the original valvetrain, and the bike is still out there racing (I don't know if he has rebuilt the head yet or not). Show me a 60+ hp CRF that lasts even CLOSE to that long.

A CRF doesn't need 60 hp to keep up with a pig like that lol.:dunno:

Never rode one, did you? Ask Clark how my KTM handled. And ask Martire how much work he had to put into that KXF to come close to the lap times he did on a stock SMR.
I won't argue parts availability and cost, but I really don't understand why everyone seems to think KTMs have reliability problems. I've never seen one break a con rod.

My 01 520SX went some obscene number of hours with a busted rocker and only 3 working valves. Damn thing still podiumed the Am class starting in the Novice wave. :)
