Things have stalled a bit. Most likely because *I've* been putting off helping her find the right bike for the right price. I'm not sure I'm ready to assist her getting out on the road on two wheels.
But yeah. Keep me posted on that. That's EXACTLY what she's comfortable on. Although the price for a '22 may be a bit much for her.

My son has asked me a bunch of times to look into it for him. Nope, can't do it! Told him I "may" help him if he takes the rider course. But he can be a meathead at times, hell, I let him try out my Onewheel when I got it and he came back all road rashed up from trying to see how fast he could go. First time on it and tried to hit full throttle.

Tovah took the course and got her license and from all accounts did great. However, she's kind of a dippy driver. That beautiful truck she bought a couple years ago is riddled with bumps & bruises. Nothing even close to major and no one was in any danger of getting hurt. But those little bumps & dings COULD relate to incredible damage on a motorcycle, both physically & mechanically.
If she pursues it and presents me with something she hunted down & all that, I'd at least make damn sure she gets something of quality and at a fair price. But she's gonna have to do all the preliminary research & hunting.

Okay, so this is now gaining momentum. She fell in love with the newer(ish) Kawasaki Vulcan S 650. Sat on a few at National Powersports, fit her well, price is within her wheelhouse (+/- $5,000).
Oddly, she's also liking 883 Sportsters. She's we've checked checked out a couple "Low" models. They fit her well and she felt comfortable with the size & weight. Again, they've been within her price range. I *KIND OF* like this route as she likely won't lose much money if/when she moves it for whatever reason.
So now she's leaning more toward newerish sporty, power-looking small (500cc - 650cc) cruisers in the $5K range.
Any updates on this?

Yeah she just got the title and wants to post it but hasn’t decided on a good asking price yet.

I've ridden both. The Vulcan is a world's better machine. It's no contest. Resale wise that 883 will drop like a rock too.
Everyone says that but I don't think it's really something that needs to be done. The 883 is fine for most things. People just want bigger and it's pretty easy to do on an 883. If you always have a passenger then the 1200 kit makes sense but if your solo the 883 is adequate. Even on the highway it will 85 90 without much hassle. The gearbox on the 883 makes it easier to ride too.
For my money I'm buying the 883 over the 1200 since they are usually thousands less and I have other bikes for speed and power.
So, kbb trade in is roughly five. Kbb retail is allegedly 7. She’s looking for 6.

The pricing on a new or near-new Rebel 500 (which *does* seem like exactly the right bike) always leads me straight into Rebel 1100 thoughts. Maybe she wants a DCT motorcycle as a tasteful oddball counterpoint to her manual Tacoma (a very sweet whip; congrats)?

I asked my wife if she’s gonna miss the Rebel, and she said no, but she’s glad she started on it, because while the 883 Sporty she now has isn’t a “big harley” it feels significantly heavier? They both seem pocket rocket sized to me, especially the rebel. But, that could be horse bollocks cuz my street bob is the entry level harley above sportsters… so the frame dimensions and ergos could be very similar on paper, so what do I know?!?
