higher center of gravity because of the fuel tank?

Okay, I guess it's starting to gain momentum. She's getting really hot for this:

Does anybody have any real world knowledge of these?

What's that place in Barrington? St. Hilaire?
Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
First bike, in all likelihood she'll be looking to upgrade in less than 24 months if she takes to riding on the street. So, depreciation matters.
At that price point, I think there are better options.

This. The CF moto, while quite possibly a great bike, will almost certainly lose half its value in a year, as well as be much harder to sell once she's ready to upgrade.
A used Honda like the one above can clearly be found for the same price or less, bought & sold again in two years for the same price.
You need to thoroughly drive into her head... This is her FIRST bike... NOT HER LAST...

Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
If anyone is interested in an 2001 EX500, my parents wouldn’t mind getting it out of their shed.
It was my first bike, I bought it in 2006 from my roommate’s brother, who was the original owner.
I sold it to my brother in ~2012; he had a tipover at Thompson in 2015 that resulted in a broken front fairing and clip-on
I don’t think he’s touched it since, he’s moved a few times and it’s back at our parents house in central CT.
If anyone is interested, I’ll take a ride up there this weekend and get some pics and the status.

I have my wife's rebel we're probably gonna sell soon. May need a freshen up. If anyone is really interested that could light a fire under my ass to dig it out.
Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
fwiw, the guys I know that bought used CF Moto SxSs got them for a song from list. I've done ok with my Kymco's only cause I got them substantially below msrp to begin with

She's 24 years old and searching for her first bike. I think that pretty much sums it up...
Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
Believe me, it's getting ridiculous for me too!
Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
You have far more patience than I. I would have straight up told her that I'm not helping her any longer and it's 100% on her to find what she wants.
I had the same convo with multiple friends in the past and I got sick and tired of it each time, especially after driving upwards of an HOUR to go see MULTIPLE bikes, me looking them over, giving the thumbs up on most of them and them saying "ehhh I don't like [insert the most insane, petty fucking excuse here]."
(Yes, recent developments in this thread brings up repressed memories.)
Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
Hey, just be thankful they don't purchase motorcycles as if they were shoes / handbags....you'd have a garage full of bikes they don't ride.

I *JUST* had this exact conversation with her via text. And I mean minutes ago.
Her biggest holdup now is she's waiting for the Army payday. Check's in the mail sorta thing, blah-blah-blah. Last year something came up and she had to put it off. But yeah, I told her I'm done searching and when she's ready to buy we'll get on it.
I can't turn a blind eye on this and just wait for my daughter to make this purchase on her own. I obviously want to make sure she's on something safe & reliable above all else and doesn't get entirely screwed over just jumping onto something because it LOOKS like she'll like it.
YOU GUYS think it's frustrating? Stand in my shoes, it's driving me nuckin' futz!
Re: WANTED: Bike For 1st Timer
And yes. The deal is the bike sits in my garage unless she has the full gamut of gear. Luckily, Big Shirl has a ton of stuff that'll fit her. But until she's fully outfitted, the bike will stay locked up in my garage.

I'll get them tomorrow. Will definitely need a carb clean and maybe tires off the top of my head.
