Apt in greater worcester area, super low budget.

So the gf of two years is giving the boot. I’m a 25 year paramedic and due to injury and illness only have about $1000/mo for rent. Responsible, just need to be single, lol.
    Thanks?

Thinkin long term or short term? Or either, just quickly?

It'd be a long shot but I can ask around the neighborhood & see if anyone's open to renting out a room.

I understand the 1000/mo apt doesn’t exist anymore. So willing to spend more, but still have a limited budget. Looking for asap and prefer more than just a room. Thank you guys.

    Alrighty.

For what it's worth, I've been in this position late in life of looking for solo housing on a limited budget so I feel what you're goin through. It fuckin suuuucks. Ended up living w/ a friend before moving back in with the 'rents as a 40 year old. Not exactly my proudest moment. But I'd say it definitely worked out for the best.

Good luck, man. Keep diggin', I know you'll find something.

Have you checked out by southbridge? It's generally the cheapest housing in the area though I'm not sure what that means anymore. I have no idea what a grand gets these days but I have the feeling not much.

I’m willing to spend 1500/mo, but separating from the wife killed my credit, and being short notice of course I don’t have first, last, and dep. at 43 this eats Jackie sized ass.

^^ been there too, it does surprisingly suck for what it costs to occupy such little space/resources as a single person

SoCal is not cheap, so I got a little experience in cheap living after the girl I was engaged to dropped me. Stay with friends/family, rent rooms, or find someone willing to split a 2 br apartment. The cost of housing is high for other people is well, so you have a good bet finding someone else in a similar situation who's willing to lower their cost by sharing living space with you or a little income for their house. Being single/no kids also opens up a lot of options, so you're "easier" to place. The van life, mobile park, RV/trailer/boat life/caregiver roles are out there, but I'll leave them up to you to research on your own.

After I became single, I just rented three rooms in the last 8 of 13 years...one was a struggle (Indian family...and I'm Indian ), 1 was very chill and remarkably cheap (very good area close to work, where I essentially shared a house for an easy going roommate that wasn't home a lot), and the last place I lived with a real estate agent who held my hand to help me buy property. Renting rooms were all temporary, I enjoyed most of them (hassle free, no maintenance, all my utilities were included, lived cheap enough to blow the rest of my money on bikes), and things "worked out" in the end owning 3 properties and now engaged to someone better. hang in there bud!

This is the exact situation my planned tiny home community would help solve. Projected rents of around 750 for a one bedroom, possibly $500 with enough units for rent. Just a dream for now but one day it will be a reality.

Maybe we should chat. I’ve been tossing this idea around in my head for years. In vacation lands though, for workers. Ski resorts, etc.
Containers or tiny wood homes. Ever since I stayed here and thought, man, I would be proud to live in one of these vs feeling like a smuck.

Re: Apt in greater worcester area, super low budget.

I like the simpler shed conversion type ones best but I'm thinking for long term living. Short duration and Airbnb are probably better for the fancy ones.
I was entertaining the working folk option but it's almost a dead end. The reason workers have hard times finding homes in places like Jackson is because the towns don't allow basic houses or communities to be built. Getting planning permission would be akin to trying to build a mobile home park next to Bill Gates. They just won't approve it or make it so expensive it becomes an impossible task. I lean towards better than basic living for people like the op with a community atmosphere. They are becoming hugely popular down south but zoning and general nimbys in many locations prevent them from going more north.

I'm.always happy to chat about this, even just in theoretical.
