Looking for dirt boots. US 10.5/EU 45 usually works. Probably looking for other dirt gear too, but not sure what else is really needed.
hmm, i'll look... what sizes for other gear?
Beta 200RR
Large for anything else, probably going to buy a helmet new.
I got an HJC dirt helmet for $70 here:
Extreme Supply, The Original street and off-road motorcycle products and accessories
add on some goggles
for dirt - the jerseys/pants are pretty much useless for protection. Helmets and boots are the real deal. You will fall; you dictate your level of protection when it happens.
I recommend
-chest/elbow/shoulder protection - I prefer the pressure jackets under an MX jersey
-knee guards - Leatt dual axis
-gloves - whatever you want from any brand. MX gloves are like light gardening gloves...they're thin/flexible without any armor
-boots - try not to cheap out if you can. The lower price range ones (~$90) feel like clogs and all the buckles break eventually
-socks - completely optional - but for $10 I think it's worth it not to have your knee guards dragging against your shin
I have a pair of alpinestar bionic knee guards if ya want 'em - fiddy bucks

I have a brand new pair of fox comp 5 boots in black.
Clinton, where are you located? I'd be interested in anything that fits (boots, pants, knee guards, socks, gloves, goggles, maybe helmet).
cool. i'm up in Princeton, MA down the road from Mt Wachusett ... ~30min north of Worcester
Beta 200RR
not sure if you're ever north at all but I'll be riding dirty at Hodges Village Dam in Oxford, MA on Friday morning (7/3)... could load up all the spares
Beta 200RR
Thanks for the offer, that is a bit closer to me. I will have to see if I can escape for a bit on Friday morning.
Any tips when looking for dirt helmets? Road race is easy, Snell and composite. Any similar guidelines for dirt? How about dual sport helmets with the built-in visors?
Pretty much cleaned Clinton out. Thanks again!
great to meet you, Pete! i'm jealous of that northern ride you have planned ... have enjoy ... look forward to riding some woods with you in the future.
