Re: WTB - 5x8 enclosed trailer
Oh, I understand. I'm just saying - I'd drive myself crazy. Carry on with the trailer buying senor Ductard...

Sorry, totally forgot about this thread. I'll find it tonight - or Monday.

Barn doors are great because you can mount shit on them (i.e. holders for spare wheels, shelving units, hooks for suits). But you have to carry at least one ramp.

Any more info? Is this "crossroads trailers"? For $2,200, doesn't sound like it's all aluminum, which based on towing capacity I think I'd need if I was going to the 5x10 size.
Retro'ing a side door is something silly, like $1000. The Outlaw looked into it for his 5x8, and quickly realized it wasn't worth it.
Mine is not a "Crossroads." $2200 is not all aluminum; but it only weighs 1100#.

Sometimes, yes. More importantly, do "you" already have ramps? If so, how much did you pay for them? Many of us have super duper curved, folding, lightweight ramps to get into truck beds...I've seen $200 sets of ramps. You could sell them for damn near what you paid most of the time, thereby recouping most of that potentially-increased cost of the ramp door. Otherwise I agree with everything you said ;)

I just got mine from them beginning of this season. I absolutely love it! The quality, price, and wait are well worth it
Re: WTB - 5x8 enclosed trailer
I'll find out what the local trailer place charges for adding a side door to an existing trailer, bet it isn't $1k. :D
Re: WTB - 5x8 enclosed trailer
I got mine from Northeast Custom Trailers in Randolph, NJ.
Re: WTB - 5x8 enclosed trailer
Bought a 6x10 SnoPro/CargoPro/Stealth trailer today.
Effing MA's lack of temp plates means that I had to drive up to NH twice in one day though....
Side door, ramp door, and it weighs the same or less than most of the 5x8 steel trailers.
Since it wasn't set up for motorcycles specifically, I've got a project ahead of me....
One thing I wanted that this one didn't have was a roof vent. Looks like they're not too expensive, but is it a PITA to install one?

Congratulations! Setup two TRSs, shelves, hooks, toolbox, sleeping arrangements - it's a fun project ahead of you!

Partway there. Put in 2 TRS's this weekend and it was super-easy.
Re: WTB - 5x8 enclosed trailer
PS - Bought the trailer off of DaSilva Motorsports in Hampstead, NH.
The guy (Paul, I believe) was super nice about me showing up a few minutes after closing knowing he'd have to hang around for me to fill out a bunch of paperwork.
The advertised price was $400 less for the same trailer advertised at a large trailer dealer outside of Philly. I liked this model enough that I was preparing to either drive down there or pay somebody to bring it up. Pretty happy to have saved both time and money by finding the trailer ~90 minutes outside of Boston.
Still peeved about the MA RMV and how they handle registering vehicles.... I had to waste 3 hours on Thursday night driving back to pick up the trailer with a borrowed plate, and wasted the entire morning on Friday at the RMV getting the trailer registered.

Hmm...if you consider taking my buddy's license plate to get my unregistered trailer home "compliance"
PS - when I run for president I will disavow any knowledge of the statement above.
Will have pics up sometime soon. Will also have it up at Loudon this weekend.
