Just purchased a brand new 2011 R1 last month and first mod was Leo Vince exhaust with Y pipe cat delete and sounds amazing but left a flat spot in the power band. I know some sort of tune/air fuel correction will be needed. After much research I decided to order the flash-tune interface to flash my own ecu and wow what a difference. The hicup at 4000-4500 rpm is gone and runs butter smooth now. I was also able to have the fan kick on at 205 degrees to help me when stuck in traffic. It removed the gear throttle restrictions and just feels like a whole new bike! The best part is that I dont have to mess around installing a power commander and flash a dynojet map right onto the ecu and lowered the engine braking which resulted in much smoother on-off throttle on higher speed cornering. Two Thumbs up for me!
If anyone wants to re-flash their ecu for 09+ R1 in the boston area let me know.
Damn, wish you had an '07..I have been debating on getting the interface for a while now.
the guys over at flash-tune got a good thing going. right now they are a small company based out of LA i use to ride with a few of them when i lived out there. theres no other piece of software on the market that gives you the control over your bike as flashtune does.
fan temp, throttle restrictions, engine braking, fuel maps, idle RPM etc can all be adjusted with the software. if anyone wants more info on it or has questions let me know.
and for all you 09+ R1 owners you can have the bike start in 'A' mode....
